Day, one post surgery new update

Monique had her brain surgery today. Afterward, the neurosurgeon told us he didn’t see much, if any, obvious tumor growth. What he saw looked more like dead tissue from the radiation and chemo. That gives us something to be hopeful about.

But he was clear that what he saw alone can’t tell us whether the tumor has changed or become more aggressive. He took a biopsy, and now we wait for those results and see how she recovers.

After surgery, she recognized her mom and dad. She knew my last name was London, but she couldn’t get my first name out. That part was hard. We’re still dealing with the difficulties with her speech and finding words, and we’re taking this one step at a time.

You guys have been walking this journey with us, and we appreciate every prayer, every check-in, and every bit of love you’ve shown our family.

There’s no easy day in this. Today, we’re holding on to the hopeful pieces while we wait for more answers. Keep Monique and our family in your prayers. 🙏🏾❤️

“I AM IRONMAN.” 🦾🏅

I’ve watched those movies a hundred times, but being able to say those words for myself hits a little different now.

Months of preparation. Thousands of miles. Early mornings. Sacrifices. Doubts. Life happening in every direction.

And through it all, the mission never changed.

15 hours of putting one foot in front of the other until I heard those words at the finish line.

Nobody tells you about this part.

You finish an IRONMAN. You hear your name, cross that finish line, and feel the high of accomplishing something massive.

Then you get home… and your wife has brain surgery again in a week.

The work is still there. The kids still need you. The business needs you to show up. And somewhere inside all of that, you’re asking yourself, “Where the f**k is our life about to go?”

That’s my post-IRONMAN clarity.

I’m proud of what I accomplished. But that pride sits right next to fear. Last time, we thought surgery would mean removing the tumor, recovering, and moving forward. We didn’t understand how much could change. Then came aphasia, difficulty communicating, and moments when Monique didn’t know who I was.

We’ve been working to find our footing again. Now we’re facing another surgery, wondering what life will look like on the other side.

I’ve been on edge. Conversations hit differently. My patience is shorter. And I’m realizing how much of that is fear I’m carrying underneath everything else.

I’m still training. HYROX is next, and I want another IRONMAN when life allows. But this series has always been about more than a race. It’s about the diagnosis that changed our family’s life—and everything we’re still living through.

The finish line mattered. It just didn’t come with answers for what happens next.

Right now, I’m a husband who’s scared, a father trying to keep showing up, and a man taking things one day at a time.
