Riverside City College Athletics’ Female Athlete of the Week for Oct. 19-25 is freshman water polo standout Chloe Bustos!
The Chaparral High School product helped the No. 3-ranked Tigers finish 4-1 last week, totaling six goals, eight assists, 19 steals, two blocks and three drawn exclusions. RCC earned victories over Orange Coast, Cerritos, Sierra and No. 2 Golden West before falling to No. 4 Long Beach City in overtime.
Bustos opened the week with one goal, three assists, five steals and one drawn exclusion in Wednesday’s 16-10 home victory over Orange Coast.
She continued her strong play Friday at the Battle at the Beach tournament at Cerritos College, recording one goal, one assist, five steals and one block in a 16-2 win over Cerritos. She followed with one goal, one assist, two steals and two drawn exclusions in a 16-5 victory over Sierra.
On Saturday at Long Beach City College, Bustos anchored the Tigers’ defense with seven steals and one block while adding an assist in a 7-3 win over No. 2 Golden West. She closed the tournament with three goals and two assists in a closely contested 15-14 overtime loss to No. 4 Long Beach City.
The Tigers will look to capture their third Orange Empire Conference title in the past four years when they host the OEC Championship Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 5-7.
