We are excited to announce that Assistant Coach and Alumni Courtney Smith-Hernandez (Cash) has been appointed as the new Head Coach for The Women’s Rugby Club at Iowa State.

Since graduating, she has continued playing Rugby with the Twin Cities Amazons, a team in the Women’s Premier League.

Coach Cash brings fresh experience, including notable achievements such as coaching the Iowa Hawettes through a successful season, who went on to win the Lakefront 7s tournament in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She recently coached the EIRA U16s team in Ireland, which led to an impressive 2-1 international record. Her background includes roles at Iowa State as a former President and Captain, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to excellence.

We are confident that Coach Cash will drive our continued success and look forward to the new era of Iowa State Women’s Rugby under her guidance. Please join us in welcoming back Coach Cash to the ISUWRC family.

Hello ISU Rugby fans! We hope everyone is doing well as the weather warms and summer begins. As you all know, we competed at Nationals a couple of weekends ago and had a great time! However.. our pockets are still hurting a little. Below is the itemized list of expenses from our trip. We have raised $1785/$3697 for the trip cost.

We want to thank everyone who has donated and the families who were out in D.C. with us. We are incredibly grateful for all of your help. If we could give one final push before the fundraising ends tomorrow at 5 pm, we’d really appreciate it. We’re not expecting to cover the total cost, but every little bit helps. Thank you so much for supporting ISUWRC ❤

The outcome of our games was not what we wanted, but the Cyclones had a great weekend regardless. Results came out to 1-3 but every player played with enormous heart and effort. Thank you to all the friends and family who have supported us this season, we couldn’t do it without you! Lots of rugby love ❤️💛🏉

As the team prepares for nationals in two weeks, please consider donating to the club! All donations directly benefit the club by helping to cover travel costs for players, hotels, food, transportation, and tournament fees. We would not be able to do what we love most without your support. If you are willing and able, please follow the link in our bio to the ISU Foundation and follow instructions on the second slide. Thank you!!

Today, the team battled it out at the conference championship. We played hard and came out in third place, overall. This secured our spot in the Collegiate Rugby Championship national tournament in Washington DC in two weeks!! We are so proud of this team and are looking forward to a great post-season! Go Cyclones!
