On Nov. 12, 2025, at Mahoning Valley Race Course, Luis Alberto Batista scored his 800th Career Win riding Bootsy’s Merlot, owned by Roger B. Sterling, and trained by Jay P. Bernardi.
Luis has had over 5000 starts, and also over 800 career 2nd places in his career.
Batista is a Mahoning Valley Race course premier jockey and is from Panama City and has raced in Saudi Arabia, and various race tracks. He has been in the top 100 rankings the last four years.
Currently living in Boardman (Youngstown) Ohio with his wife and two children. He is also photographed with his valet Jose Garcia.
