The Iron Giantess Helping you strengthen your mind, body, and soul. Clinically obese) and over 300 pounds, I was teetering on the edge of pre-diabetes.

At 22 years old, my weight had become a serious health issue 💊 At my heaviest... when I was obese (not chubby or fluffy or overweight. I had hypothyroidism and blood pressure problems. The fat around my midsection made me an almost inevitable candidate for heart disease. I was barely in my 20s and, at best, heading down a road of medications, diseases, and disorders for the rest of my life. At worst, I was killing myself. In Spring 2014, after graduating college, I decided to take charge of my life and make a change. After trying and failing to get a handle on my health numerous times, my weight had become a serious enough concern that I began researching what weight loss surgery would entail, I realized I'd need to be in a safe BMI range for the procedure and that I'd have to change my lifestyle drastically following the surgery. What initially began as an attempt to implement those necessary changes quickly grew into an intense love of health, fitness and nutrition. I started going to the gym, lifting weights and eating a clean diet tailored to my body's needs. It only took a few weeks for me to realize that I didn't need to go under the knife🔪. I needed to get under the bar💪🏼. In the first year, I shed more than 120 pounds without surgery and significantly changed my unhealthy habits. I am now health issue free and my life has changed for the better with the simple realization that what we want and what we do are completely in our own control. Out of desperation, I found my greatest passion: fitness and health. -TIG

If you’re waiting to start perfectly, you’ll always be waiting.
Start. Start simple. Start messy. Start imperfect.
Figure it out as you go.

The excitement at the beginning isn’t supposed to last forever.

So many of us secretly believe that if we could just stay motivated, then we’d finally be successful. Think about the beginning of a relationship. Everything is exciting and new. There’s possibility. Your adrenaline is firing because there’s uncertainty. This person could be PERFECT. It could work. There’s excitement in the unknown.

You think about them constantly. Your nervous system is activated because new things naturally create energy. Potential creates novelty.

But, if the relationship is healthy and lasting, things calm down. You get to know each other. You learn their patterns, moods, rhythms. Your nervous system stops sounding the alarm all the time because things feel safer. More predictable. More secure. You stop wondering if they’re going anywhere. You know how to weather hard days. You know how to reconnect after disagreements.

That’s actually the goal.

Because lasting relationships are not built on constant butterflies and adrenaline. They’re built on safety, consistency, trust, and choosing to stay over and over again.

Your health journey is the same.

At first, motivation is high. Everything feels exciting. New plan. New goals. Fresh start energy. “This time is different.”

But eventually the novelty fades.

The workouts are comfortable. Meal prep feels repetitive. Progress is less dramatic.

And so many people panic there. “This doesn’t feel exciting anymore.” “Maybe I lost motivation.” “Maybe I’m falling off.”

But what if this is actually the part where it’s becoming real? What if your nervous system is simply starting to recognize this as safe? Familiar. Normal. Not a threat. Part of your life. What if the boring part is actually the beautiful part?

Because this time, you’re not building a temporary fling. You’re building a lasting relationship.
Only this time, it’s with yourself.

And healthy relationships aren’t built through intensity. They’re built through trust, consistency, and learning how to weather the ups and downs without leaving.

For decades, women were told their symptoms were “normal,” “just stress,” or all in their head while silently struggling with exhaustion, insulin resistance, inflammation, weight fluctuations, mental health challenges, painful symptoms, and feeling disconnected from their own bodies.

And now, finally, there is a shift.

PCOS is being renamed to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). And while some may see “just a name change,” many women understand this for what it truly is: recognition.

Recognition that this condition is not simply about ovaries.
Recognition that it is a complex endocrine and metabolic condition impacting the entire body.
Recognition that millions of women have spent years misunderstood, minimized, or overlooked.

For years, the term “polycystic o***y syndrome” created confusion and dismissal. The name failed to capture the full picture of what so many women were experiencing, and that misunderstanding came with consequences.

Delayed diagnoses.
Dismissed symptoms.
Women blaming themselves for symptoms rooted in physiology, hormones, and metabolism.
Women fighting to be believed.

So to the women who spent years feeling unseen, unheard, exhausted, or dismissed… this moment matters.

This is not the finish line, but it is a meaningful step toward better understanding, earlier intervention, improved care, and more accurate conversations about women’s health.

To the women who never stopped advocating, researching, speaking up, and sharing their stories even while struggling themselves — this victory belongs to you too.

Here’s to progress.
Here’s to women finally being seen.
And here’s to continuing to push for the care and respect women’s health has always deserved.
