600 LBS ON THE MAMMOTH BAR! 🦣💪

Burke stepped up to the Mammoth Bar and ripped 600 lbs off the floor with Justin right there making sure the entire gym knew what was happening. 😂

And honestly, that’s one of my favorite things about the community we’ve built at Atlas.

Strength training might be an individual sport, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone.

There’s something special about having people around you who get just as excited about your accomplishments as you do.

People who push you, challenge you, talk a little s**t, and then turn around and become your biggest supporters when it’s time to lift.

Your PR might have your name on it, but the celebration belongs to everybody.

Hell of a pull, Burke! And shoutout to Justin for bringing enough energy for the entire building! 🔥

Surround yourself with people who want to see you get stronger.

EVERYONE, MEET ANNIE! 💪

We’re excited to officially welcome Annie Normand to the Atlas Strength Shop team as our new Membership Acquisition Specialist!

That’s a fancy way of saying she’s going to help make sure everyone in Baton Rouge, whether they’re experienced lifters or have never touched a barbell in their lives, knows that Atlas exists and has a place for them.

If you’re coming in for a tour, Annie will likely be the first person you meet!

And she’s bringing a TON of experience with her.

Annie has spent the last 9 years working in gym management, coaching, membership sales, and community building. That includes 4 years owning Resolute Fitness, which was voted Best Gym in The Advocate’s Best of Baton Rouge for 2026 and finished runner-up for Best Boutique Fitness Studio in 225 Magazine three out of four years!

She also held her NASM Certified Personal Trainer certification for 9 years.

But what I really appreciate about Annie is that her passion for fitness comes from personal experience.

After losing 60 pounds and successfully keeping it off, she fell in love with fitness and turned that experience into a career helping countless others lose weight, build strength, and gain confidence.

Her approach emphasizes behavior change, goal setting, and accountability. Not just helping people reach their goals, but giving them the tools and habits to maintain those results long term.

And that’s something that aligns perfectly with what we’re trying to build at Atlas.

We don’t just want to get people through the door. We want to help them build a lasting relationship with strength training.

As Atlas continues to grow, having someone dedicated to connecting with our community, introducing new people to strength training, and helping them find their place here is going to be a huge asset.

So if you see Annie around the gym, make sure to introduce yourself and give her a warm Atlas welcome!

And if you’ve been thinking about checking us out, there’s a good chance she’ll be the one showing you around. 😂

Welcome to the team, Annie! 🔥

Me trying to convince literally EVERYONE at Atlas to try Strongman. 😂💪

Oh, you’re a powerlifter? Cool. Wanna try lifting an Atlas stone?

Bodybuilder? Awesome. Have you ever pressed a log?

Just here to get in shape? PERFECT. Let me show you how to pull a truck. 💀

I swear, I can’t watch someone walk past the Strongman equipment without trying to recruit them.

And it’s not because I think everyone needs to become a competitive Strongman athlete.

It’s because I genuinely believe everyone can benefit from Strongman training.

Carrying awkward objects, picking things up off the ground, pushing, pulling, and pressing are all movements that build strength with applications far beyond the gym.

And the best part? Strongman is scalable. You don’t have to be a 300 lb monster throwing refrigerators around to participate.

We’ve got implements and variations for beginners, experienced lifters, and everyone in between.

I just want people to experience how much fun it is to pick up something heavy and awkward that they weren’t sure they could lift.

So if you train at Atlas and I randomly ask whether you want to try an Atlas stone, just know I’ve probably been waiting for the opportunity since you walked in. 😂

Come find out what all the excitement is about at Strongman Saturday, every Saturday at 10 AM!

Halloween is right around the corner, and we’re celebrating all October long with our Atlas Strength Shop Virtual Costume Contest!

And we’re putting something pretty good on the line.

🎃 Show up to Atlas in your Halloween costume.

💪 Get some footage of yourself training in it.

One of the things I love most about the community we’ve built at Atlas is that we know how to work hard without taking ourselves too seriously.

So whether you’re pulling a deadlift dressed as Batman, pressing a log as a Viking, or attempting to squat in one of those ridiculous inflatable dinosaur costumes, we want to see it. 😂

Let’s see some creativity, some heavy lifts, and some absolutely terrible costume decisions!

NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES. 💪

If you’ve been training for months and haven’t made any progress, I’ve got a question for you.

What have you actually changed?

Are you still lifting the same weights? Doing the same number of sets and reps? Following the exact same routine you were six months ago?

Your body is incredibly good at adapting to the demands you place on it. But once it’s adapted, you have to give it a reason to keep improving.

That’s where progressive overload comes in.

And no, that doesn’t mean you have to add weight to the bar every single week.

Sometimes it’s adding another rep. Sometimes it’s increasing your training volume, improving your technique, adjusting your exercise selection, or addressing a weakness that’s holding you back.

It also doesn’t mean constantly changing your program just for the sake of doing something different. Consistency is important, but so is having a plan that allows you to progressively challenge yourself.

You can’t keep doing the exact same thing and expect different results.

Training should be intentional. You should know what you’re working toward and have a plan for how you’re going to get there.

And when progress stalls, don’t just keep spinning your wheels. Evaluate what you’re doing and make adjustments.

Progression doesn’t happen when you want it. It happens when you earn it.

And remember…

NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES.

Why Join a Locally Owned Gym? Part 8: MORE ROOM TO LIFT. 💪

There’s nothing quite like showing up to the gym ready to squat, only to find yourself waiting in line for the one available rack.

At Atlas Strength Shop, we currently have 17 different places to rack a barbell. And yes, we counted. 😂

From squat stands and power racks to combo racks and specialty equipment, we’ve made it a priority to give our members plenty of options to get their training done.

Because when you’re running a gym built around strength training, having enough places to actually TRAIN for strength should be pretty high on the priority list.

That’s one of the things I love about owning an independent gym. We get to make decisions based on what our members actually need, not what some corporate office thinks a gym should look like.

And as Atlas continues to grow, we’ll continue investing in the equipment and space that makes our members’ training better.

You support Atlas. Atlas reinvests in you.

Want to see what 17 places to rack a barbell looks like? Come check us out! Book a tour through the link in our bio.

POV: You fired your strength coach and replaced them with ChatGPT because it’s free. 🤖😂

Now you’re squatting 7 days a week, your next deload is scheduled for 2047, and every time you mention your knee hurting, it tells you to consult a healthcare professional.

You asked for a simple strength program and somehow ended up simultaneously preparing for a marathon, a bodybuilding competition, and the World’s Strongest Man.

And when you finally point out that the program makes absolutely no sense?

“You’re absolutely right! I apologize for the confusion.” 💀

All jokes aside, I actually think AI can be an incredibly useful tool for strength training.

It can help you understand programming concepts, organize your training, and even give you some pretty decent ideas.

But there’s a difference between generating a program and actually coaching an athlete.

A good coach doesn’t just tell you what to do. They watch how you move, recognize when something isn’t working, make adjustments based on your performance, and know when to push you or pull you back.

The best program in the world is only as good as your ability to apply it to the person standing in front of you.

Use AI as a tool. Just don’t confuse having access to information with having access to experience.

And for the love of God, don’t let ChatGPT schedule your next deload. 😂

Imagine hackers getting access to my camera roll and trying to hold it for ransom. 💀

“We have all your private photos. Pay us or we’re releasing everything.”

Brother, it’s 10,000 pictures of people deadlifting, squatting, carrying rocks, and hitting PRs. 😂

There’s probably 47 pictures of the same piece of gym equipment from slightly different angles.

You think you’re blackmailing me?

You’re threatening me with free marketing. 💀

Go ahead and leak the whole thing. Just make sure you tag Atlas Strength Shop | Gym and remind everyone we’re open 24/7.

At this point, my camera roll is basically the Atlas marketing department.
