MEET THE TEACHER:
Namaste! My name is Hannah, and I am STOKED that you're searching for a new path to complete wellness!
My personal journey with yoga started when I was 16 as a way to bond with my dad, and was a casual practice off and on for years. I used it as a form of exercise and nothing more, picking it up and putting it down as frequently as the T.V. remote for more than a decade before I finally Committed. No matter how many times I broke bones, tore muscles, experienced mental/emotional trauma, or lost track of the course I was on. Every time I've felt myself losing control of my body, my mind, and my life, yoga helped me find direction and perspective. Then, at some point, it dawned on me that this whole time I was using yoga to find a new direction, I was actually side stepping my calling. Yoga changed my life by helping embrace change, to accept my body as it is regardless of where I'm at in my fitness journey, and to allow my future to be fluid. Because of all of this, I've decided to share what I've learned with my friends, family, and community.
My teaching has been the most fruitful and fulfilling course I've ever been on. I've abandoned many, many dreams while finding my way to yoga, because they did not nurture total mind and body wellness. Sine beginning this career I've gotten to see elderly people dance again, and be able to sit on the floor with their grandkids. I've gotten to be witness to young kids learning to calm their minds enough to sit through a class and focus in school. I've seen people lose 50 pounds, sometimes more, and I've had students come to me excited because they were no longer in need of blood pressure medication. I've mostly taught in gyms and rec centers for the past three years, and in doing so I've been able to witness people hyper focused on "getting skinny" or burning calories take deep breaths and stick around to have a conversation with their mat neighbor, rather than rush out of the room to get to their next task or chug their shakes.
IN THIS SOCIETY, PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS COME TO YOGA LOOKING TO FIND JOY, AND CALMNESS, OR BREATH. THEY TYPICALLY COME FOR EXERCISE, JUST LIKE i DID 14 YEARS AGO. BUT ONE THING IS INEVITABLE....YOGA CHANGES LIVES WITHOUT WARNING OR PERMISSION. AS A TEACHER, AND A STUDENT, THIS HAS BEEN THE GREATEST JOY OF MY Life.
I am glad you're here, continuing your yoga journey with a new teacher, or starting on a new wellness path. despite this crazy world.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.
