It really is the end of an era … over the weekend, .jorgensen.777 and I cleaned out everything in the gym. Looking at the empty tumbling room and seeing the equipment room stripped to just the floor and walls sure left us with a lot of emotions. Thank you to all who made this place what it was and for giving us the best job in the world.

We’re so proud of all of our competitors at the tumbling meet!! You all did so amazing and Corner House took home the 4th place trophy in the last ever competition for our gym. ❤️

Tonight we said goodbye … and it was hard. So hard. Lots of tears. Lots of hugs.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you. You’ve been the reason we love coming to work every day. We’ve loved seeing you grow, seeing you gain confidence, seeing you learn new skills. Some of you came here shy, nervous to come out on the floor but it wouldn’t be long and you’d be running as fast as you could to the floor for the start of class.

For some of you, this was your home away from home. Where you spent a good chunk of your free time, where you felt accepted and loved.

We helped push you through your mental blocks. We’ve seen your tears. We listened when you were frustrated when you couldn’t nail that new move. We coached you through your fears when something seemed too hard. We felt all those emotions with you. And tonight, we felt all the love you had for this sport and this gym. For Jeff and Jim, Taylor, Abby and Grace, for all of us. And we are so humbled.

Thank you for all the years. For 40+ years of making this the best job in the world. We will miss you more than you will know.

It’s hard to believe this is the last week the gym will be open. Tomorrow those doors will lock for the last time. Tomorrow will be the last day we get to see those smiling faces walking through those doors. We’ll miss the smell of the chalk, the chatter of the little voices as they wait their turn in line. The laughter, the smiles, the hugs … those are the things we’ll miss the most.

Don’t forget to reach for the stars, girls. And smile. You all are incredible little humans and we’re so grateful we were able to be a part of your lives, no matter how brief it might have been. I hope you always remember your days at Corner House, and know we will always remember you!

For those of you competing this weekend at the State Fair, we can’t wait to watch and help you do your best!! Good luck to you all!
