Krav Maga on the ground is about more than escaping a bad position or learning to control an attacker. It’s about fighting back, inflicting damage, getting to your feet, and getting away as quickly as possible.

That’s why we incorporate ground-and-pound drills into our training.

Get to a dominant position. Mount the bad guy. Then unleash punches, hammer fists, and elbows until the threat is stopped and you can escape.

These drills are intense. They build stamina, power, aggression, and the mental toughness to keep fighting when you’re tired, uncomfortable, and under pressure.

This isn’t point fighting. It isn’t a sport. It’s Krav Maga.

Should we add this gun disarm to our training? 🤔😄

Master Ken is always offering great insight!

Your first Krav Maga class may feel challenging. The techniques can be hard to remember, your timing is off, and the training can be physically exhausting.

But it's part of the learning process. Each class drills reps of the techniques. You become stronger, improve your stamina, and learn to remain calm under pressure.

The movements that felt awkward begin to flow. The workout that was exhausting shows how far you have come. You have solutions to that things that you used to challenge you.

Krav Maga is not easy on the first day. It makes you better with every day you train. What feels difficult today may become the skill you depend on tomorrow.

Wondering Why Our Krav Maga Classes Are So Effective For Self-Defense?

At Triumph we focus on creating individuals that have the confidence and ability to fight back. We do this through specific training programs that build the necessary skills.

Each class consists of...

✅ COMBATIVES - Learn to fight back using your hands, elbows, knees, and legs. Focus on proper technique and vulnerable targets (eyes, ears, nose, throat, groin, and knees.) Practice with fatigue drills to simulate the energy depletion you experience in an actual attack.

✅ DEFENSIVE TACTICS - Understand footwork, evasion, and how to block and/or cover. Practice with variable partners experiencing the impact of size, strength, and speed, and learn to adapt accordingly.

✅ INFORMATION SERIES - Lecture portion of each class discussing awareness, physical and psychological reactions to a violent attack, principles of self-defense, etc.

✅ SELF-DEFENSE - Basic, simple techniques to escape from grabs or chokes and weapons defenses and disarms. Using stress drills, these techniques are practiced with different partners under varying conditions forcing you to fight back until the attacker is no longer a threat.

The Krav Maga Defensive Front Kick is a powerful push kick designed to drive an attacker backward or prevent them from closing the distance.

By using the strength and reach of the lower body, this technique gives both men and women an effective way to respond with speed, power, and confidence.

It’s just one of the lower-body combatives we drill at Triumph Martial Arts. You’ll get a great workout, develop practical self-defense skills, and build the fight-back mindset to respond when it matters most.

If someone confronts you with a weapon, should youimmediately try to disarm them? 🤔 Absolutely not! 😬

In most situations, your safest choice is to stay calm and comply. Your phone, wallet, or car can be replaced. The exception is if they’re trying to force you into a vehicle or take you somewhere else. You never want to let an attacker move you to a place where they have more control and fewer witnesses.

But what if you can’t escape, compliance is no longer an option, and attempting a disarm is your only choice?

Krav Maga teaches five basic principles:
1️⃣ Get offline. Move your body out of the weapon’s immediate line of attack.
2️⃣ Control the weapon. Redirect it and keep it from being used against you.
3️⃣ Violently counterattack. Strike aggressively and take away the attacker’s ability to continue.
4️⃣ Use leverage to disarm. Use technique and body mechanics to remove the weapon.
5️⃣ Create space and escape. The goal isn’t to stand and fight, it's to get away and get to safety.

But knowing these five steps doesn’t mean you can suddenly perform a weapon disarm. These skills require countless repetitions against different attacks, angles, and levels of resistance.

That’s one of the things Krav Maga does so well. We practice realistic situations until the response becomes quicker, more confident, and more instinctive.

No weapon defense is guaranteed, but good training gives you options. When your life is on the line, having a practiced response is a lot better than trying to figure it out in the moment.
