Maci Abbatessa stood at the top of the podium today, becoming NECC's first NJCAA Track & Field NATIONAL CHAMPION since 2011, earning 1st place in the shot put! 🔥

On Day 2 at the NJCAA Track & Field National meet, Teriq Goodman ran personal bests in both the 100m (11.59) and the 200m (22.99). Mia Ruiz ran season bests in both the 100m (13.32) and 200m (28.05). Janelis Uviedo ran a huge personal best in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 19.06. Aivyn Privitera turned in three strong performances today, competing in the 200m, 110m hurdles, and the 400m hurdles. Adriel Rosa Sanchez and Milton Garcia ran well in their events. Estephany Lizardo finished out her JUCO career competing in the 400m hurdles, and Derick Pierre Paul competed in the high jump. Maci Abbatessa finished 9th in the javelin.

On Day 1 at the NJCAA Track & Field National meet, Maci Abbatessa broke her own school record in the hammer throw set earlier this season, with a new personal best of 34.55m (113-4). She finished 9th overall. Also with a 9th place finish was the women's 4x100m (Rachelle Torres, Mia Ruiz, Estephany Lizardo, and Janelis Uviedo). Uviedo was 10th in Triple Jump.

NECC Athletics Banquet 2026. What a night celebrating the successes of our teams!

What better way to prepare for Nationals next week than to have NECC’s very own Hall of Fame thrower Shana Blaney come to practice to work with Maci!?! Next week, Maci will represent NECC in all four throws at the NJCAA National Championship in Utica, NY.

In the last meet of the regular season, Teriq Goodman hit the national meet qualifying mark in the 200m with a huge personal best of 23.02. Teriq will represent the Knights at the NJCAA National Meet in May.

Also at the CCSU Invitational, Derick Pierre Paul hit the national meet qualifying mark in the high jump, clearing 1.80m. Pierre Paul will represent the Knights for the second consecutive year at the NJCAA National Meet.
