A sudden stratospheric warming event unfolding now will likely lead to a large disruption of the polar jet stream. The disruption causes arctic air to drop south meaning these weather patterns favor cold weather outbreaks. It will take some time for this pattern to unfold, but it looks like mid March will likely feel like the middle of winter.
If this ends up being the case, this sets up a highly favorable lake effect snow pattern...in March. The very mild winter we've had so far has kept the lakes (relatively) warm.
Even if all of this plays out and it turns sharply colder and snowy, there is only so much time this could impact our area. The sun is undefeated.
