New York District 10 Little League.

In life children reach many milestones that should be celebrated. It is my belief that one of those milestones every kid should reach is hitting a ball with a bat, reaching first base and scoring a run.

This summer I had the opportunity to help several kids reach that milestone as we brought the challenger baseball program into the Utica School District Special Ed. Summer school program.

Like any baseball/softball program some kids loved it, some kids enjoyed it as something to do, some kids played in the dirt and some kids were over it pretty quickly… but most importantly every kid had an opportunity.

Thank you to the Utica School District for providing the opportunity, thank you to my volunteer helpers, and staff at the school for assisting to make it happen. It was a summer of success, smiles, relationship building and heartwarming cheers of I did it as they reached these precious milestones.

Every tournament season eventually comes to an end.

Today, New Hartford’s inspiring run at the New York State Tournament came to a close. While the final result wasn’t what they had hoped for, it doesn’t diminish what they accomplished or what they represented throughout this summer.

Over the past several weeks, many of our posts have centered around New Hartford, and for good reason. As our District 10 Baseball Champions, they earned the opportunity to represent every league in our district on the New York State stage. In the same way, we were proud to follow Tri County Softball as they represented District 10 in the New York State Softball Tournament.

But this post isn’t just about New Hartford.

It isn’t just about Tri County.

It’s about District 10.

To the players from the other eight teams in our 10-12 year old Baseball Tournament, thank you. Champions are forged through great competition. Every game challenged New Hartford, made them better, and helped prepare them for the road that led to the State Tournament.

To every player who competed in our 8–10 year old and 9–11 year old Baseball Tournaments, we hope you were watching. Your turn is coming.

To every softball player who competed this summer, and especially our District 10 Champions from Tri County, thank you for representing our district with pride and earning your own trip to the New York State Tournament. You gave our district another team to rally behind and another example of what hard work and teamwork can achieve.

Most importantly, thank you to every volunteer, coach, umpire, league official, parent, sponsor, and fan. Little League isn’t built by one team or one league. It is built by communities that believe in giving children an opportunity to learn, compete, grow, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

District 10 is more than a collection of leagues. It is a community that showcases the greatness of Little League. It isn’t defined by championships alone, but by the players who compete with heart, the volunteers who give countless hours, the families who fill the stands, and the communities that come together every summer to support one another.

Congratulations to New Hartford Baseball and Tri County Softball on outstanding championship seasons and for representing District 10 with pride.

And to every young player who stepped onto a District 10 field this spring and summer…

Keep dreaming. Keep working. Keep believing.

While one chapter of the summer comes to a close, another is still being written. We invite everyone to come out and support our Challenger program as they continue reminding us that the greatest victories don’t always show up on the scoreboard, but in smiles, friendships, and the opportunities the game creates for everyone.

UPDATE: Due to impending weather conditions. The start time for this game has been moved to 8am.

New Hartford closes out pool play Tuesday morning against Maine-Endwell, the District 7 and Section 1 East Champions.

A DAY OFF FROM POOL PLAY. A CHANCE TO ENJOY STATES.

There are no pool play games on the schedule Monday, with the NYS Tournament shifting its attention to the Skills Competition and Challenger Game.

And while the standings show New Hartford at 0-2, they don’t tell the whole story of what this team has accomplished.

They are District 10 Champions. Section 2 North Champions. And one of just eight teams in New York playing on this stage.

District 10 is proud to have New Hartford representing our district in West Nyack, and we hope these players, coaches and families are taking some time to enjoy everything that comes with reaching the State Tournament.

There’s still baseball to be played Tuesday. But today is all about enjoying the moment. Take it all in, make some memories and have some fun.

NEW TOURNAMENT. SAME STORY?

New Hartford is back at Cesca Field Sunday night looking to respond.

After an 11-0 loss to Port Washington in the State Tournament opener, New Hartford enters its second pool play game. On the other side is Florida, the District 19 and Section 3 North Champion. Florida entered States unbeaten before suffering its first loss of the tournament season, 7-1, in Saturday’s opener.

That puts these two Section Champions in a similar position Sunday night, both looking for their first win at States.

For New Hartford, being up against the ropes has become a familiar position this summer.

We know the story.

Now comes the next chapter.
