The Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame (GUSHOF) has announced its 2026 scholarship recipients.
Seven senior athletes from five local school districts - including Whitesboro, Holland Patent, Mount Markham, Adirondack and Thomas R. Proctor - are this year's GUSHOF award-winners.
Whitesboro soccer star Chayse Fischer is the recipient of the $1,000 Richard D'Alessandro Family Scholarship. Fischer, a first-team Tri-Valley League all-star, has committed to play NCAA Division II soccer at Daemen University in Amherst.
Fischer plans to major in Physical Therapy and Business Administration. She graduated third in Whitesboro's Class of 2026. Besides soccer, she also played lacrosse for the Warriors and was active in Unified Bowling.
She received the Livi Paw Print Community Service Award and was the recipient of the Whitesboro Central School Alumni Association Scholarship.
The two $500 Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship winners are Addison Snider of Holland Patent and Owen Jones of Mount Markham.
Snider, Holland Patent's Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete, graduated fifth in her class and was a member of the Oneida County 4-H Teen Council. She participated in field hockey, wrestling and track and field and now plans to attend SUNY Morrisville, where she will major in nursing.

He captained the Mustangs' soccer, basketball and baseball teams and was the vice president of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend SUNY Geneseo's Honors College. He also received the Student Achievement Award from the Oneida-Madison-Herkimer Counties School Boards Institute.
The D'Alessandro Family Scholarship and the two GUSHOF Scholarships are given to high school seniors who have played at least one varsity sport, exhibited strong leadership, honesty, integrity, and good character, and participated in student activities and community service through volunteerism.
Whitesboro's Savannah Ferguson is the recipient of the $400 Laura Bradley Memorial Female Athlete Scholarship. Ferguson played field hockey and was active in dance. She graduated with honors and now plans to attend the University of Buffalo, where she will major in Biology/Pre-Dental.
The Laura Bradley Memorial Scholarship is given to a female high school athlete pursuing a career in mathematics or has been strong in mathematics courses and is a positive role model who exhibits strong leadership, is fun-loving, presents a genuine concern for others, has good sportsmanship skills, is dedicated to her team and teammates, and has participated in community service through volunteerism.
Adirondack Central School's Robert Weiler is the $500 recipient of the 1983 Utica Blue Sox New York-Penn League Baseball Champions Scholarship. Weiler graduated in the top 10 in his class and now plans to attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where he will play baseball and major in nursing.
