The Power of Well-Being

Vacaville Parks & Recreation helps people live healthier, happier lives by supporting physical, mental, and social well-being at every stage of life. Through parks, programs, trails, and community events, we create opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, and engaged.

From Sit N Fit, restorative yoga, grief and support groups, and Tax-Aid assistance for older adults, to adaptive recreation programs that create meaningful experiences for people of all ages and abilities, our programs help ensure everyone has a place to belong.

The benefits extend to every generation. Whether it's learning a new dance routine, taking an art class, discovering a musical talent, participating in adaptive recreation, or joining a wellness program, these experiences reduce isolation, encourage healthy lifestyles, build confidence, and strengthen overall well-being.

Parks and recreation do so much more than provide places to play—they bring neighbors together, create safe spaces for youth and families, support healthy lifestyles, improve mental well-being, protect our natural environment, and enhance quality of life throughout our community.

The impact is clear: 92% of U.S. adults say parks and recreation are important to their mental health, and 87% say they are important to their physical health. By providing accessible, affordable programs and welcoming spaces close to home, Vacaville Parks & Recreation helps residents build healthier bodies, stronger social connections, and a higher quality of life every day.

When we invest in parks and recreation, we invest in the health, happiness, and future of our community.

Update:
Good news! Thanks to the quick response and hard work of the Vacaville Fire Department and Vacaville Police Department, the fire has been fully extinguished, the area has been cleaned up, and Lagoon Valley Park has been deemed safe to reopen.

⚠️ Lagoon Valley Park Closure – July 23 ⚠️

For the safety of our visitors, Lagoon Valley Park will be closed for the remainder of today (July 23) due to a fire in the area.

The safety of our community and first responders is our top priority. Fire crews and emergency personnel are working hard to safely contain the fire and restore access to the park as soon as conditions allow.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as everyone works to keep the community safe. We will share updates as they become available.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

The Power of Nature: Spending time outdoors isn't just enjoyable—it's essential for our health and quality of life.

Research shows that spending just 20 minutes in nature can significantly reduce stress, while people who spend at least two hours in nature each week report better physical health and greater well-being. Children who regularly play outdoors are more physically active, develop stronger social skills, and build a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

Whether it's taking a walk through Lagoon Valley, joining a recreational sports league at one of our community parks, riding along Vacaville's bike paths, or enjoying a summer concert under the trees at Andrews Park, our parks and recreation spaces offer countless ways to experience the benefits of nature. These everyday moments help residents stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the natural beauty that makes Vacaville a wonderful place to live.
