๐Ÿšจ Martinez Classic Training Update ๐Ÿšจ

Since our challenging 60-mile toss, the birds have now completed two additional 30-mile training tosses โ€” and we have had 100% returns on both. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโœ…

The birds continue to show us exactly what we want to see. They are coming home strong, and some are even continuing to loft fly after returning from the 30-mile toss before deciding to trap in. That tells us a lot about their energy level and overall condition.

We do have a small number of birds under observation while they recover from hawk attacks, but thankfully nothing serious โ€” mainly scratches and some missing feathers. They are being watched closely and given the time they need to recover properly.

These last two tosses are another good reminder that one difficult training day does not define an entire season. Our job is to keep observing the birds, make adjustments when necessary, and let their performance tell us how they are doing.

2 consecutive 30-mile tosses
โœ… 100% returns
โœ… Strong arrivals
โœ… Birds still loft flying after coming home
โœ… Overall condition looking very good

Weโ€™ll continue moving forward one training at a time.

๐Ÿšจ Martinez Classic 60-Mile Training Update ๐Ÿšจ

Our latest 60-mile toss was a challenging one.

780 pigeons were released and 680 have returned, giving us an 87.2% return rate.

We know there have been many different opinions about what may have happened, but we want to share what we are actually seeing here at the loft.

The birds continue to look healthy, active, and strong. They are eating well, showing no obvious signs of sickness, and have been loft flying for more than 1.5 hours. We also have not been overusing medications or vitamins.

The weather at release was favorable, with good visibility, some cloud cover, and atmospheric pressure above 30 inHg.

One factor that has been mentioned is increased hawk activity during this time of year. We cannot say with certainty that this was the cause, but we did receive some birds back with visible hawk wounds, so predator pressure is something we cannot completely ignore. A disturbance near a new release point could have scattered or separated part of the group before they established their direction home.

At the end of the day, nobody can say with certainty exactly what happened.

Our responsibility is to observe, evaluate, and learn from every toss, making decisions based on what we are actually seeing in the loft rather than speculation.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Martinez Classic and trusts the process. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ

The foundation continues to get stronger at Martinez Classic! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Our young birds have now completed multiple successful road training tosses from 11 miles, and theyโ€™re responding exactly how weโ€™d like to see.

In todayโ€™s video, you can watch them loft flying for over an hour with plenty of energy and determination. Just as important, the team is showing excellent appetite, and weโ€™re not seeing any birds showing signs of illness.

These are the little milestones that build confidence for the longer races ahead. Every healthy training day is another step toward a successful season.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted us with your birds. We look forward to sharing more updates as the training program continues! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
