The realities of life will always demand from us, so we must cultivate energy to give to it while having extra to support our body, mind, and spirit.

The switch is from being busy and anxious to peaceful.

How do you get there?

There are many ways, God being the best of them…

But some other gifts we have to achieve the essence of peace is through practices like kung fu, tai chi, and meditation.

Do you believe this world could benefit from practices that encourage peace?

Would your life benefit from more peace?

Will you take a bit time out of each and every day to help your body, mind, and spirit to achieve peace?

Has the martial arts industry watered down martial arts training because it helps increase their bottom line? Yes!

Water it down too much and it just turns into nasty soup.

Real martial arts training is fun and boring at the same time — repetition after repetition.

Real martial arts training sometimes makes you feel good and other times not so good — victory and defeat, smiles and tears, excitement and frustration.

Real martial arts training tears you down and then builds you back up — hard before it becomes easy, sometimes painful before skillful, bitter before sweet.

When real martial arts training is removed, what’s left is a false sense of accomplishment at best.

And when the strength and skills developed through martial arts are needed in everyday life — or, God forbid, in a physical encounter — they simply aren’t there.

But when the bottom line isn’t the main objective, and real martial arts training is kept alive in the system being practiced, something different happens.

The objective becomes empowering individuals to overcome life’s biggest challenges. To survive and thrive in a broken world. To become productive and helpful members of their families and society. To develop into highly skilled martial artists with high-quality character — physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Then the bottom line fades into the background.

A higher standard becomes the standard — and everyone benefits.

Remember being this excited about something as a child?

Not just excited, but really, really excited?

Perhaps that is what’s missing from your martial arts training.

As adults, we tend to get into a pattern of routine, working out, practicing, and just checking the boxes with our training.

Some just coast along indefinitely. Others really grind to make progress and get their black belt.

But, when was the last time you really just let yourself have fun with it.

Children automatically know how to have fun with everything, and they have to learn to have discipline to be constructive with the fun they are having in the thing they are doing.

Adults tend to get so entrenched by the disciplines of life that they need to learn to have fun.

It’s not a matter of doing extraordinary things that are fun to relearn this, though there isn’t anything wrong with that.

It’s a matter of finding the fun in everything, and in this case, martial arts.

If we can take the lessons of having fun with everything like kids from the children around us and utilize our experience in discipline to be constructive with our training…

Watch out, you’ll make some serious gains.

And you’ll have fun with the process.

It’s a subtle but significant mindset shift that makes all the difference in the world.

The secret is to have fun - serious fun.
