Valentine American Legion Post 90 Baseball

Thanks to everyone for coming out last night to the Vet’s Club for our annual hamburger feed! We had a great turnout and raised a lot of money for the teams this summer!

We will post more updates soon as we continue practicing to get ready for a new season. A full schedule will be out soon. Looking forward to another fun summer of Post 90 baseball!

Time to get started! We will have our first baseball practice Sunday evening at 6:30. We would also like to have a short meeting with parents at the start, especially if your kid will be playing legion baseball for the first time this season. Please meet at Legion Field shortly before 6:30 Sunday. Looking forward to meeting the new guys and getting the season underway!

Good news! It appears we will have plenty of guys for a full junior legion schedule this summer! We could always use a few more if anyone else is interested. We should also return our full senior roster from last year’s state qualifying team. Looking forward to a fun summer at Legion Field!

We are currently working on scheduling for this summer and need to find out if we will have enough guys for a junior legion team. If you will be 16 or under on December 31 of this year and you’re interested in playing this summer, reach out to Kent or Max and let us know, or you can message this page. We will also try to get to the schools the next couple weeks, but there’s a lot going on with winter activities in full swing and break coming up.

With our enrollment number this year, we can also take kids from Ainsworth, Cody-Kilgore, Thedford, or Mullen who are interested in joining our program.

The quicker we know we have enough for a team, the better schedule we can set up. Thanks for sharing!

As another year of Post 90 baseball comes to a close, we’d like to thank all the volunteers who took their time to make this season possible. From parents who show up early and stay late to help out on game days, community members who ran another successful area tournament at Legion Field, local businesses donating money to help us get equipment and go down the road, and the Post 90 American Legion for their continued support. Legion baseball is truly a community run program.

On the field, it was another successful year. We reached our third straight junior legion area final. The seniors made their second straight final and qualified for state, the fourth Post 90 team to qualify in the last 7 seasons. Even better news, none of the kids age out this season and can all play senior legion again next summer.

Last but not least, thanks to the guys! As Lope often says, if we spent as much time practicing baseball as we do driving to games we’d be pretty tough! It takes a big time commitment to play legion baseball in Valentine and a lot of gas money. We’ve been very lucky to have a lot of talented, committed players playing baseball for Post 90.

Thanks to everyone for following along! Check the page every once in awhile in the off season as we will keep an eye on the boys in school sports and hopefully have a couple of fundraisers.

The season comes to an end for Post 90. We lost to Ord 12-6.

Seniors fall to Sutton in the opener at state 11-4. We will play Ord tomorrow at 1 PM.

If you hear sirens tomorrow on Main Street at 11 AM, (hopefully) it’s a send off for the boys to the state tournament! The Valentine Fire Department will be giving them a ride down 5th St from the high school, then Main St, then east on Highway 20 to Sandhill Oil. If you’re not busy, come out and give them a wave for good luck!
