Big congratulations to our newest black belts. Last night Kristina Vincent and Kelby Thompson tested for promotion to shodan-ho, and passed. Kristina's mom also passed her shodan-ho test a couple months ago. It was a long, and difficult test but they did great. Big thanks to Shihan Mike Franco for coming down to help us administer this promotional exam. Great job everybody. Exciting times ahead

On Saturday may 1st sensei Andy will lead the kata "shin-soku-shin" (in death your soul will be cleansed) in honor of Andrew Holmbeck , who lost his battle with covid in November. All current and former students who knew Andrew and would like to participate in the kata, are invited to attend. If there is enough interest, sensei Andy will teach the kata before hand.

This event will happen at Vancouver Shudokan karate

VSK will be reopening to regular class times starting May 3rd. See www.vancouvershudokan.com for class time.

At this time all students will be required to wear masks to train, and all students 16yo+ will be required to have been vaccinated unless a medical reason can be provided as to why the student can't be. In the event that the vaccine is approved for younger students, they will need to be vaccinated as well. No poke, no punch. No stick, no kick. We at the VSK the covid19 virus VERY seriously. Having lost a very close friend and student to it in November. Feel free to DM or call with questions.

Thank you for your patience as we transition through this very difficult time.

It is with a heavy, breaking heart that we announce that on November 22, 2020 Andrew Holmbeck passed away as a result of complications associated with Covid 19. He was a great partner and an even better friend. Always with a smile, and always willing to help. Andrew (Drew) was preparing to test for his Ni-dan next year. The hole he leaves in our hearts will never be filled. He will be greatly missed. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. He was 39.

Seems like as good as any to share again Sensei Dave's talk from gassuku 2016 about get home bags and sensei Kari's talk about being prepared in emergencies. Take a look and review what you have and what you need.

Stay safe out there everybody.
