Eternal Arts Kung Fu is a traditional Chinese Martial Arts studio teaching MiZong LoHan Northern Kung Fu, Fu BaGua and Wu Family TaiChi and Canada.

My Jhong Law Horn (Mizong Luohan) is an external style, with distinct internal influences. It draws on many aspects of the external Northern Shaolin Long Fist style, and the internal styles T'ai Chi Ch'uan , Pa Kua Chang and Hsing I Ch'uan, with which it is often taught in modern times. It is characterized by deceptive hand movements, intricate footwork, varied kicks, and high leaps. In execution,

One of my favorite things to hear from a new student is:

“Wait, class is already over?”

Most people know they should work out. The problem is that a lot of workouts are boring. You’re watching the clock, counting reps, staring at a treadmill, and waiting for it to be done.

Kung Fu is different.

You’re too busy learning.

One minute you’re working on footwork. Then you’re practicing techniques with a partner. Then you’re trying to remember a sequence from a form. Before you know it, the hour is gone.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, you got a heck of a workout.

You leave class sweaty, breathing hard, and wondering where the time went.

That’s one of the reasons people stick with martial arts for years. They come for the workout, but they stay because they’re learning something.

If you’ve ever been curious about Kung Fu, come try a week of classes. At the very least you’ll get a great workout. You might even find something you’ll still be doing ten years from now.

The hardest part is walking through the door the first time. After that, the training takes care of the rest. If you’ve been thinking about trying Kung Fu, come join us for a week and experience it for yourself!

Sifu Tex has been practicing the three sectional staff for over 15 years and the dedication to practice and learning to control this chaotic weapon has paid off. That’s what kung fu really teaches. Perseverance when things seem difficult.

One of the biggest misconceptions about weapon training is that spinning is only for show.

While spinning a weapon isn’t always the most practical fighting technique by itself, it develops something incredibly important: control.

The Three Sectional Staff is a weapon that can move in every direction at once. Learning horizontal spins, vertical spins, and transitions between the sections teaches timing, coordination, accuracy, and confidence with the weapon. Before you can effectively strike, wrap, release, or redirect the staff, you first need to become comfortable with how it moves.

Like anything in martial arts, there is a balance. Too many spins can make a performance repetitive, but when used in the right place they add flow, demonstrate skill, and help connect techniques together.

This clip from our Vancouver Mall demonstration showcases a series of horizontal spins and transitions through the different sections of the Three Sectional Staff. It’s a small glimpse into the amount of practice required to make one of Kung Fu’s most challenging weapons move smoothly.
