2 men, 2 programs.
It’s a very competitive but also collaborative environment between us basketball trainers/coaches. And even though I’m so overly competitive when it comes to basketball, and if I get riled up, I’ll talk a lot of smack….I gotta give respect to those who put the time in to this game. Who have respected it, and who have fostered the talent of the future.
These men and women who head up programs are not just an applicant for a position. No, each one of us has put in extensive time…years..up to 40 years of playing, coaching, competing, respecting the game, and building the respect of our peers, and the basketball community as a whole.
I believe that Kyle Poe and I have done just that. For many years probly up to 15 years ago I’ve been hearing his name. People would ask me, “Do you know Kyle Poe”, I’d be like nah but I’ve hears of him. Coach Poe said the same thing about me, he’s always heard about me, but never met me.
It was nice to meet coach last tourney we played here, I loved walking in to people who greeted me and were warm in character. A very nice community springs up, from these games, I appreciate that.
Then once we hit the court, it’s all business and the kids are going at each other competitively. Parents are passionate, coaches are animated…..I don’t even like to yell and I’m losing my voice. The aura of competition is in the air, and it’s fantastic.
I’m newer to this travel ball thing but I see that the 805 is strongly representing. There are always players on other teams who I enjoy watching. I can tell they are beginning and in the midst of their own journey of respecting the game and gaining the respect of their peers.
Not everyone is happy with the way basketball is headed, but I am committed to bringing back good basketball to the world and I thank Coach Poe for helping make that happen here in the 805.
Much love and success to you all. Best believe we coming tho, and I hope you’d have it no other way. 🏀🚀
