Skateboards for plastic-free oceans. 4-minute video on our story: https://vimeo.com/91873997

Reflecting on 2022.

Taking a moment to look back on the year that was. We are grateful for the support from our extended community – from the local fisheries, to supply chain partners, to NetPlus brand affiliates. Tackling the issue of fishing net waste and turning it into positive products requires collaboration and a boat load of hard work.

In partnership with local fisheries, we collected a total of 2.49 million pounds of discarded fishing nets in 2022, expanding our recycling programs to include six countries (Chile+Argentina+Peru+ Ecuador+Mexico+US) and a dedicated team connected by a mission to end fishing net pollution.

We're looking forward to new challenges and adventures in 2023!

Fishing nets have been identified as the most harmful form of ocean plastic pollution with
an estimated 600,000+ tons of fishing gear left in the ocean each year, impacting 66% of marine mammals.

We are partnered with the Institute for Whale Conservation (.argentina) in Argentina, who works to protect whales and the oceans through scientific research projects, education and community outreach, and by promoting solutions and policies that mitigate the threats to marine life.

On a joint mission to prevent entanglements and keep our ocean free of plastic, we are honored and excited to be working alongside ICB to forge relationships with the local fishing communities in order to educate fishermen on how we can now create a net positive solution for their previously discarded waste.

Don't waste it, wear it

Over 600,000 tons of fishing net waste enter the ocean each year. See how our partnership with takes discarded fishing nets from Waste to Wear - transforming a once harmful material into a positive product that can be worn for a lifetime. Beyond reducing the footprint of ingredient materials within their new jackets- we are thankful for Patagonia’s commitment to extend the life of their products by repairing and reusing them through the initiative. Making high quality stuff that lasts for years is a long term win for the planet! 🌎 ♻️ ✌🏾

"Each and every one of us, no matter who we are and no matter what we do, has a fundamental responsibility....to give our children a world that is safer, healthier, cleaner and more just than that which we inherited." -Jacques Cousteau

We are so grateful for all that the ocean provides us. For our extended teams the big blue is a constant source of joy, inspiration and motivation -- a constant reminder of all that is at risk. Thankful to be a part of the extended ocean community working towards a better tomorrow. Happy Earth Day!

We’re stoked to join , and all the participating partners across the globe in the We Are One Ocean movement to protect 30% of our ocean by 2030. We signed the 30x30 petition because we owe it to the future generations - the least we can do is help protect and preserve the ocean environment that has given us so much. Sign the petition (link in bio) and share why you want to protect our ocean. .

Movements of nets to brims. Tracing this material through our supply chain in South America where nets are moving from fishing communities to our central warehouse in Chile for sorting and then onto our supply chain partner in Puerto Montt for recycling. Maintaining traceability through the process, the material undergoes two cleaning processes and then is pelletized prior to moving to the brim factory where these nets will be sent off for a life of adventuring within each recycled brim.

Last chance to slide a foot powered stoke machine under the tree this year -- final holiday orders shipping this week. Made in California from over 50 square feet of recycled fishing net, the Ahi features Carver surfskate trucks and was designed for a lifetime of riding.

Incorporating over 25 square feet of discarded fishing nets, Jenga Ocean is made from NetPlus®,100% recycled fishing nets, and packaged with recycled materials. Hand drawn and inspired by the sea, the artwork behind Jenga Ocean is the work of Lake Buckley () - a surfer, designer, artist, and explorer. The sense of wonder that characterizes Lake’s artistic process is also connected to her relationship with the ocean.
