One thing that stuck out to me, which might be kind of unique, is that every kid was allowed to have their feelings and they were so much happier for it. I feel like in summer camps when I was a kid, if you were tired or not into the activity in that moment, tough luck. Mr. Keyes is so good at supporting each kid back into the group activity and letting them take a moment to regulate without isolating them. Although classes continue like usual, we still want to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. Dr. King was a great American leader who stood for the same values we teach and try to live by. At the beginning of each class, we say the Taekwondo tenets:

“Honor, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, courage, community, strength, humility, knowledge.”

Dr. King’s legacy shows us a real-life example of a leader who fought for these universal values and helped our country make tremendous strides in the civil rights moment. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
