🍔Friday food for thought
🎉CONFIDENCE🎉
Lets break it down ! 🕺🏽 💃🏻
📣Confidence is what I believe as a parent, like many of you is the most important thing to instill in a child before they leave my house and go off on their own.
This holds true to my martial arts students as well. No matter when they leave my school, the biggest goal for each one is to ensure they leave with confidence. True confidence!
Not false confidence, like, 10 year old Jimmy who gets his green belt, which made him feel confident to try out for soccer, mom and dad say, “karate worked! He’s so much more confident now, now he wants to quit karate and focus just on soccer”, (but he still struggles at school with peers, being organized and listening and following through.) 🤦🏽♀️
👉🏽The real understanding and knowing that Jimmy is fully confident, is that “Jimmy balanced martial arts training with other things he loves because the understanding of the value of what it teaches was clear to his parents. Jimmy is better adapted at home and school, he is kind to himself and peers and he’s understanding, makes goals and follows through. This doesn’t happen over night or in a few lessons or even in a year’s.
🥋Building confidence is a life long learning process about yourself!
🌟Confidence comes from two words
Con- meaning with
And -fidence meaning trust
🗣️Many people believe confidence is loud, and is fearlessness or even an arrogance, And an all knowing.
🌟But what confidence really is, is knowing you have infinite value, even if you lose.
Think of confidence this way, it is like a flashlight, in a dark room that helps you move and see into the unknown, even if you’re scared or uncertain, it helps guide you. 🔦 💡
✅Confidence is built on 4 things.
1️⃣Core Values- these are unique to you.
2️⃣Courage-“core” heart. Showing your heart even when you’re scared. 💜
3️⃣Competence- this is why we practice, to understand and gain knowledge. 🧠
4️⃣Compassion -being kind to others, but really being kind to ourselves. This mistake is made sometimes when we teach only to be kind to others but, forget to be kind to ourself and don’t utilize enough positive self-talk, allowing negativity to take over and telling ourselves we aren’t good enough or we suck, is one of the biggest things that undermine our confidence.
Once we have these 4 things in place, then we really get into the process of understanding and knowing ourselves. This is when we begin to have confidence. True confidence. 💕
👀You cannot trust yourself, until you learn how to know yourself.
🥰One of the best ways to know yourself is to learn how to deal with failure, to keep going when things become challenging and to know that you are infinitely valuable and loved, no matter what happens.
👊🏽Hope you enjoyed this little lesson and perhaps share it with others.
