Christmas came early for these guys. Jeff Theissen was awarded his green belt, Jim Smith was awarded his assistant instructors patch, and Andrew Kilian was upgraded to Instructor.
Learning is an extraordinary thing. You're exposed to an idea you've never encountered before. You're guided through the rudiments of understanding. The lesson begins to take root. Only moments ago you'd never done it before, and now you're taking your first steps into a larger world.
Austin was introduced to Single Sinawali the same night this was filmed. You can see how he's still processing the lesson, but when you stay with something long enough, it becomes realized.
Legacy has classes on Tues and Thurs at 6:15 pm.

Creativity comes from doing new things with stuff lying around. Here we have a trio doing double sinawali (to weave), but changing partners to show fluency.
A fun thing to do is combine this with a Follow the Leader drill where one partner doesn't know what the other is throwing to create some real chaos.

Posted here we're demonstrating Hubud Lubud (tie/untie) an interlocking drill. It teaches sensitivity, ambidexterity, and balances the work on both sides of the shoulders. The entry can go right into the chain of hands, but for now, we just want to cultivate the cat's whisker sensing the incoming chop and drilling the follow through sequence.
