BHAKTI EMBODIED: A SOMATIC BHAKTI YOGA WEEKEND with Luna Ray
Join Luna Ray for an inspiring weekend as we use a body-centered approach to explore the mystical and heart opening practices of bhakti yoga. According to Staci Hines, Somatic practices are about growing our capacity to be present with a wide range of sensations and emotions. We will study the path and practices of Bhakti Yoga, including mantra, song, ritual and more to expand our Somatic awareness, and our ability to feel alive and connected to ourselves, each other and the world around us.
Friday October 2nd, 6:00-9:00pm.
Soma, Mantra & Magic: In sanskrit, Soma means the “juice of life”. Mantra means "to protect and purify the heart and mind".
This evening workshop will begin with a simple overview of **Somatic Experiencing (™), followed by a short accessible bhakti yoga asana flow.
We will then learn the in's and out's of mantra, from the language of, to the history of, to the science of, to the psychology of.
The evening will conclude with a powerful Bhakti yoga ritual that will merge, mantra, community, and somatic practices.
This will give us access to “the juice of life”, and the magic will emerge.
You will need a yoga mat and a sacred object that is meaningful to you. (i.e.- pic of family, something from the earth, jewelry, etc…)
**Somatic Experiencing TM (SE) was developed by Peter Levine, Ph.D. to help people heal and thrive. It is a gentle, and effective approach to healing trauma. SE uses the “felt sense” (learning to feel body sensations) to explore where energy may be constricted, and even “stuck” in the body.
This can be acute trauma, (i.e. car accident), chronic trauma (i.e. body pain), developmental trauma (i.e. childhood challenges), or intergenerational trauma ( i.e. trauma carried through your ancestral lineage). Trauma here is defined as an emotional state where the nervous system is too overwhelmed to complete a healthy flight, flight or freeze cycle.
Instead of the energy dispersing from the body, it gets stored in the body, and can affect the brain, organs, and emotions. This constricted energy in the body shapes the way one experiences themselves, and the world. Over time, this can cause chronic pain, anxiety, depression, challenges in relationships, digestion, hormonal, or immune system weaknesses, and more. The body is very wise, and when we slow down, listen and feel, a lot can happen. With this awareness of the body, the “stuck” energy can begin to release in gentle ways.
