More than half the power in a windmill pitch comes from the legs, not the arm.

That's not to say arm work doesn't matter, or that any program can promise zero injuries, nothing does. What the research actually supports is simpler: a weak link anywhere in the hip-to-core-to-shoulder chain puts more strain on the arm to compensate for it. Training the arm alone treats the last link, not where the power starts.

Does your team's training focus more on the arm, or the whole chain? Worth checking before next season. πŸ₯Ž

Sorry i have plans.

Four games, three fields and one braid that has to survive all of it. The bottle does not lose a sticker and the ribbons have to match, always.

What is in your plans this weekend? Comment them.

Bertha Tickey had already decided to retire. Then one of her team's pitchers left for graduate school, another got injured, and Joan Joyce was left carrying the rotation alone. Tickey came back.

In the final game of the National Championship, with her family in the stands, she struck out 20 of the 21 batters she faced in a seven inning perfect game. That record still stands. She finished her career at 757 and 88 with 162 no hitters.

Follow for more of the history nobody tells you. πŸ₯Ž

Seventeen to twenty in one swing. 🍿

Bennett Hendley is ten years old. He came up with two outs and runners on the corners and hit a three-run home run, and his whole team was waiting at the plate. Pyper Kiegel threw a runner out at home from the outfield. Wryder Watts hit one that was gone the moment it left the bat. Cora Holtz and River Hayes took away two hits that should have landed.

Which one is your play of the week? Tell us in the comments. πŸ‘‡

In the 1940s and 1950s, making a top fastpitch team meant leaving your state, taking a job at the factory that sponsored the team, and finding somewhere new to live.

Word spread by mouth. If you made the cut, that was the deal. Women crossed the country for it, not because it paid well, but because softball was one of the only team sports they were allowed to play competitively, and those factory teams were the only door to travel and work that was otherwise closed to them.

Every athlete on a USSSA Fastpitch field walks through a door those women built themselves. πŸ₯Ž

Four games, three fields, one parking lot at the end of it.

Nobody posts this one. There is no score, no highlight and nothing to tag. It is still the part she will remember in ten years.

Send this to the person who sits on the hood with you.

Her first travel season, she never played a single game. Not one inning. πŸ₯Ž

Meet 14-year-old Harper Schreiber of the Lady Dukes, out of Rising Sun, Maryland! She was the new kid, so she sat. Then came a homeschooled year with more free hours than anyone else on the roster, and she spent them hitting every single day, because she figured that if she could hit, someone would eventually have to put her in the lineup.

Someone did. She is a starter now, and when the club split in two, her coaches put her in charge of the newer team. The coach who pushed her hardest, the one who ran the club and taught every catcher who came through it, passed away a few years ago. The team did not practice for two weeks. Then they went to nationals and went undefeated, and in her words, they played the whole tournament for him.

Off the field she carries a 4.0, serves as vice president of her National Junior Honor Society, won an academic scholarship her school nominated her for, and runs vacation bible school for the little kids at her church.

Congratulations to our USSSA Fastpitch Player of the Week! Drop some love for Harper in the comments πŸ‘‡

For two weeks, this team did not practice. Nobody was hurt. πŸ₯Ž

The man who ran the club had died. He taught every catcher who came through it, he was the hardest coach any of them ever had, and he was the one who showed them he cared.

Meet 14-year-old Harper Schreiber of the Lady Dukes, out of Rising Sun, Maryland! When she walked into his winter clinic, every other girl had been there for years. Her first travel season she never got her uniform dirty once, because she never played a single game.

Swipe to see what she did with that year, the first game they ever started her, the day they moved her off third base, and the tournament her team went undefeated for someone who was not there to see it. ➑️

Nobody packs this bag the same way twice, and every single one of them looks like this.

The ribbon has to match. The bottle never loses a sticker. The chalk bag is the one thing she will not let anyone else touch.

Tag the teammate whose bag is exactly this.
