What a weekend. What a ride.
The ๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ marked the final tournament for this team and coaching staff. It was definitely a bittersweet ending to a chapter that none of us will ever forget.
Pool play opened against the eventual tournament champions, Hats off to that group โ they played loose, confident, and sprayed the field with rockets. G and Amelia battled in the circle and gave us everything they had, but in the end, they were simply the better team that day.
Game two was a different story.
The offense woke up, Amelia and G combined to keep ๐๐ ๐๐๐น๐น๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐น๐ฒ๐บ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ in check, and our defense was outstanding behind them. The highlight?
Absolute shot. A moment sheโll never forget, and one our team wonโt either.
Our final pool game brought another opportunity.
๐๐ ๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ป๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฏ๐ญ had honestly embarrassed us the last time we met in Tennessee. This time, our girls answered. G threw a beautiful game, the defense was flawless, and we just kept hitting rockets. A huge team win and a little redemption.
Finishing ๐ฎ-๐ญ earned us the ๐ก๐ผ. ๐ญ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ out of our pool heading into the Gold Bracket. There wasnโt a better way to close out pool play.
With a 4ยฝ-hour break before bracket play, the parents took the girls for ๐ก๐ผ. Looking back, that may have been one of the best parts of the weekend โ just a group of kids laughing together with no pressure, simply enjoying being teammates one more time.
The semifinal matched us against ๐๐๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฎ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฎ, a team we had previously defeated twice. It turned into a pitcherโs duel. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead, we battled back with one, but just couldnโt find the big hit we needed, falling 2-1. Credit to them โ they played a great game.
When the final out was recorded, the tears came.
Not because we lost.
Because everyone knew this team, as we knew it, would never take the field together again.
As coaches, watching these girls hug each other, cry together, and struggle to say goodbye was a reminder that we did things the right way. Years from now, they wonโt remember every ring they won or every game they lost. Theyโll remember the hotel stays, the ice cream runs, the dugout laughs, the inside jokes, the road trips, and the friendships they built.
Those memories are the real trophies.
To our players: thank you for trusting us, working hard, competing, and making these years so incredibly rewarding.
To our parents: thank you for believing in what we were trying to build. We couldnโt have asked for a better group to share this journey with.
And to Kady, Brent, and everyone who poured into this team alongside me โ thank you. We werenโt perfect, but I truly believe we gave these girls everything we had. Every practice. Every lesson. Every conversation. Every inning.
This tournament also marked the end of my time as a head coach. Coaching Amelia and every player who has come through this program has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Now itโs time for me to become a full-time bucket dad and cheer from the other side of the fence.
What a team.
What a family.
What a chapter.

After this weekend, this team will go its separate ways and these girls will head off to new teams, new challenges, and new chapters.
But before that happens, we get one more weekend together.
One last tournament.
One last dugout.
One last chance to compete side by side.

Today we celebrate one of our original players โ a kid who has been part of this team from the start and has meant so much to our group.
Lia is the definition of a Put her anywhere on the field and sheโll handle it at a high level. Behind the plate, in the infield, in the outfield โ wherever the team needs her, Lia shows up ready to compete.
At the plate, she brings a steady ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ญ right in the middle of the lineup and always seems capable of changing a game with one loud swing. In the dugout, she may be even louder โ always cheering, always smiling, and always bringing energy for her teammates.
What makes Lia really special is the way she thinks the game. She is very smart, inquisitive, and always wants to understand the โwhyโ behind what weโre doing. Sheโs not just playing softball โ sheโs studying it.
Lia is a great player, a great teammate, and one of those kids who makes a team better just by being herself.
Hope you have the best day!

Back on the dirt (maybe mud) this weekend for another tournament with this special group.
Rain is in the forecast, so weโre hoping Mother Nature lets us get it in. With only ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ณ๐, every weekend together means a little more.
And since itโs Fatherโs Day Weekendโฆ the dads are picking the walk-up songs. Things could get interesting.
Schedule is attached.

Watching Slick play shortstop is like watching art in motion. Every play looks smooth, effortless, and under control. She takes tremendous pride in her defense and has built a reputation as an absolute assassin with the glove. Add in a steady bat at the top of the lineup, and she's the kind of player every coach loves having on the field.
But what makes her truly special isn't just what she does between the lines. She's an outstanding teammate, a great friend, and one of those kids who makes every practice, game, and road trip more enjoyable.

Believe it or not, this was the first tournament all spring where we finally had everyone healthy and available. The energy in the dugout was different, and it was a lot of fun to watch. The relationships these girls have built on and off the field are really special. That kind of chemistry is what makes coaching and leading this group so rewarding.
The Southern summer made its presence known this weekend โ hot, sunny, and humid from the first pitch to the last.
We opened against a familiar opponent, the Oconee Diamonds. Less than a week after seeing them, we found ourselves playing again, this time 80 miles away in Dallas, GA. As expected, it was another battle. Amelia and Andrea kept us in the game in the circle, while clutch hits from Andrea and Raina helped secure a hard-fought ๐ฑ-๐ฐ victory.
Andrea and G combined for a two-hit shutout against EC Bullets Rodriguez, striking out six and issuing zero walks. The offense exploded for 11 runs after the coaches challenged the girls with a little motivation. Four runs earned a trip to Top Golf, five earned a trip to Lake Lanier Islands...they took that challenge seriously! ๐
And congratulations to G on launching her second over-the-fence home run of the spring.

Our toughest test of the day came against Fury Platinum Edwards. We jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but couldn't hold the momentum and fell 7-2. Not the result we wanted, but great reps against a quality opponent.
A first-time matchup with Lady Dukes Wilkerson saw Amelia and Andrea keep their offense in check while our bats stayed hot. Another strong team effort led to a ๐ญ๐ฌ-๐ฏ win.
We wrapped up Saturday at 3-1 and earned the #2 seed from our pool. The pitching staff wasn't quite as sharp as we've come to expect, but they competed all day and the offense picked them up when needed.
Bombers Newsome jumped on us early, and a 3-0 first inning deficit proved difficult to overcome. They found the gaps, we battled back late, but it just wasn't enough. Credit to them for coming ready to play and taking advantage of their opportunities.
We finished the weekend 3-2, and one of the biggest positives was seeing the offense continue to trend in the right direction.
Team Batting Average: .361
Runs Scored: 31
Yana, Amelia, MJ, and Andrea all hit .500+
Andrea led the team with 7 RBI
Andrea also eclipsed the 100 strikeout mark for the spring season! ๐
This group continues to make memories both on and off the field, and that's what it's all about.
And now for the obligatory photo dump from the parents and the girls themselves. Some of the best moments from a tournament happen between innings, in the dugout, at the hotel, and everywhere in between. Keep those pictures coming!
Two tournaments left.
We'll be back after it on Father's Day weekend.
