This year's **Veterans Judo Open – Houston** is shaping up to be another outstanding event!

This past weekend I competed at the **U.S. Open in Fort Lauderdale**. It was a fantastic tournament with nearly **2,000 competitors**, but it also reminded me why our Veterans Judo USA events are so special.

At a large tournament, veteran competitors are spread across multiple mats over several hours. It can be difficult to follow your friends' matches, cheer them on, or even find people you wanted to see. My own matches were moved to **three different mats**, and I missed watching several athletes I was hoping to support.

That's one of the biggest differences at a **Veterans Judo USA** tournament.

Our events are **100% dedicated to veteran judoka**. With only a few competition mats, you can watch nearly every match, cheer for your fellow competitors, reconnect with old friends, and meet great players from across the country. It's more than a tournament—it's a community.

We're already up to **128 registered competitors**, and I expect that number to grow significantly over the next few weeks. There's still plenty of time to register!
