In the Wutan lineage, each generation is assigned a name based on the year in which a disciple is accepted through the Baisi ceremony. The first generations were named according to the traditional method (from master to disciple), with the disciples of Grandmaster Liu Yun Qiao forming the “Wu” generation, their disciples forming the “Tan” generation and the disciples of them the “Guang” generation until 2009.

Later, during meeting No. 0908 of the Wutan Forum, held on April 27, 2009, it was decided that generations would instead be determined by the year the Baisi ceremony takes place, with a new generation beginning every five years. These generations have been defined up until the year 2070, after which the cycle will restart with the Wu generation once again.*

Last October, we had the honor of witnessing the creation of the World Wutan Kuoshu Federation. We’re proud to now be part of this organization and excited for the future of our lineage as we move forward with greater unity, structure, and brotherhood.

The WWKF brings together groups that uphold and preserve the lineage of Master Liu Yunqiao and the Wutan system, including all Wutan organizations and affiliated schools.

It was a fantastic weekend at Vault25 in NYC. This international seminar brought together excellent masters from around the world, and the main topic was Structural Power. Everyone in attendance was able to appreciate how different styles develop power from the foundation of their structure. Many thanks to the team of organizers, especially to Master Vincent Mei from , for making it possible. Looking forward to Vault26!

After a full year of training, learning, and fun, the Abbot School Kung Fu Club came to an end last week for the 2024-2025 school year. What a wonderful group of children who gave their best to become a better version of themselves after a year of kung fu. Have a great and safe summer!
