During the 2026 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend, volunteers from the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health collected 327 pounds of clothing, giving those discarded items a second life instead of ending up in a landfill.

Thanks to the generosity of Coastal Virginia Laundry every piece was freshly laundered before being donated to 10 community based organizations.

The Starting Strides’ program provides scholarships to schools with economically disadvantaged communities to help eliminate the barriers that prevent students from running the Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile.

This year, 850 students received:
👟 A pair of running shoes
🧦 Socks
🏁 Entry into the Final Mile
🚌 Transportation to and from race day
