WEEK ONE COMPLETE

The first week of the 2026–27 season is in the books!

Our National/Pre-National crew wrapped it up at Mt. Trashmore with a challenging team-building practice — and of course, Trashmore meant running and hills! 🏃‍♂️⛰️

It was about more than the workout. It was about getting to know each other, learning to support and push one another, and setting the tone for the season ahead.

Work hard. Do things right. Get better together.

Great start, TIDE!!

We are excited to kick off the 2026–2027 season together with our TIDE Season Kickoff Picnic on Saturday, September 12, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Larkspur Swim & Racquet Club!

This will be a team wide event for our Rec, Development, Age Group and Senior athletes and families. We want to start the season by bringing everyone together outside of the pool for an afternoon of food, games, and fun. Whether you are a returning TIDE family or joining us for your first season, we hope you will come out and help us celebrate the start of another great year.

Please log into TeamUnify and sign up for the TIDE Team Picnic. When registering, please indicate how many family members will be attending. The registration deadline will be September 1st.

Please help us welcome Garrett Benninger to the TIDE coaching staff!

We're excited to have Garrett Benninger join TIDE Swimming as the Lead Coach for Senior Bronze and Age Group Bronze Middle, while also assisting with Age Group Bronze Elementary at our Mt. Trashmore site.

Garrett brings a diverse background in competitive swimming, coaching, and service. A former standout swimmer at Riverside City College and California Baptist University, he earned All-American honors in the 400 IM, 200 Backstroke, and three relays. He later returned to his alma mater as head coach, leading the boys team to its first league championship while coaching multiple record-setting athletes.

After six years serving our country as a U.S. Coast Guard Electronics Technician and Boat Rescue Swimmer, Garrett relocated to Virginia Beach and is excited to bring his passion, energy, and experience back to the pool deck.

We're thrilled to have Garrett helping develop the next generation of TIDE swimmers.

Help Us Welcome the Newest Member of the TIDE Leadership Team!

We are beyond excited to welcome Josh Fleagle as TIDE Swimming’s Director of Applied Performance!

Josh brings an incredible level of experience to our program:
🏅 Ohio State All-American
🏆 Big Ten Champion (200 Freestyle)
🇺🇸 4-Time U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier

But Josh is much more than an accomplished athlete. He has dedicated his career to understanding how swimmers develop, learn, and perform at every stage. His passion for technical excellence and athlete development makes him the perfect addition as we continue to elevate TIDE Swimming.

Josh will work alongside our coaching staff to strengthen programming, refine teaching techniques, and help create a consistent, world-class experience for every TIDE swimmer across all of our sites. You’ll also see him leading clinics, educating athletes and parents, and helping shape the future of our program.

This is an exciting step forward as we continue building something special.
