WE HAVE A NEW PINK BELT! CONGRATULATIONS ALYSSA!
Alyssa has trained diligently with us and trains combatives as well.. She is skilled on the mat and is a delight. We are proud to add Alyssa to our growing number of pink belts who continue to train with us and help newer students.

NEW PINK BELT!
We want to congratulate Emma on earning her pink belt! When she was awarded her pink belt last month, she was the youngest pink belt to ever come through our gym. She trains with her mom, and they are a dynamic duo. Emma has continued to be on our mat helping newer students welcoming women into the fold.

We are so proud of you, Emma, for earning your pink belt, and for the delightful young person that you are!

Cynthia received a Valentines Day stripe! 💕

It was her first stripe and we are so proud of her. Cynthia has continued to show up for herself and the other women on the mat. It is hard for women to find the time to show up for themselves, and a stripe documents that effort and progress. CONGRATULATIONS Cynthia!

Introducing Our newest pink belt…Leila!
These photos really capture Leila’s playful spirit. She has trained with us for almost 2 years and we are absolutely so proud of her. She has trained hard, prepped with stamina for her pink belt test and she is delightful to have on the mat. Leila, like all of our pink belts, welcomes new students, helps newer students and serves as an example of how hard work pays off.

3 stripes for sisters Victoria and Kaleigh! We wish every woman would start training as a teenager, but it is never too late. We have women of all ages on the mat! Victoria and Kaleigh are going to have their pink belts in no time. The train hard and they train constantly. We are SO proud of them!!

These women are showing up consistently for themselves and each other. They are great training partners and fun to have on the mat.

As the year comes to a close we want to take a moment and remind you how you should feel in a BJJ school. Above all, you should feel safe. The training environment should be comfortable and collaborative. You should be able to let your instructors know if you need a new training partner and the training expectations and experience should be clear to everyone.

We strive to hit all these marks and we want to know if you are in any of gyms, VB, Norfolk, or Chesapeake and feel anything other than safe and welcomed. We truly believe that the highest and best use of BJJ is to teach women and children how to defend themselves.

We hope to see you on the mat in 2024.

We were able to come together for a dinner, and white elephant gift exchange. About half of our class was able to come.

This group of women is truly inspirational and extraordinary. Each one brings something different to the mat. Each woman brings a unique perspective to the connection and encouragement that resides within this group.

This group brings the joy and compassion of the holidays to each other year round!

Special thanks to all our pink belts who have filled in this year. And especially Sydney and Sheena for planning dinner. Unfortunately, we missed at dinner.
