Once known as "Fat Frogs," our journey began back in April 2002 when Joe Vizi first opened our doors. Over the years, we’ve seen many seasons and faces, but our core mission remains the same: celebrating the joy and freedom of New Bike Day. In April 2023, Joe passed the torch to his daughter Nina and son-in-law Chuck, marking the beginning of a new era as Freedom Bike Works. We've kept our laid-back, family-friendly vibe while embracing necessary changes to stay ahead. I have no doubt that my dad 🪽 is already pedaling through heaven with a stash of peanuts in his frame bag and cold b**r waiting for him to finish his ride. So many of you developed your love for cycling after walking through the door of Fat Frogs and meeting my dad. He was always the biggest cheerleader of riders who were new to cycling and so many of you appreciated never knowing the feeling of being “dropped” if my dad was around. He lived to make people happy and feel welcome. My dad treasured his relationships with his buddies in the OPIS group and was so grateful for their continued prayers, texts and phone calls. My dad has struggled with health problems which prevented him from joining group rides recently but he sure kept his tabs on all of you, enjoyed looking at the photos and videos from the rides, and always talked about joining again. The first photo in this post was taken just the other day when I had my dad out riding through the neighborhood - he was so happy! Cycling was the only thing on earth that he loved almost as much as our family. He was married to my mom for almost 60 years. It was impossible not to admire their love for each other. As most of you know, Chuck and I built an in-law suite at our house 10 years ago - I will miss listening to my dad and mom laughing like teenagers at the silliest things. They truly shared a marriage that was a gift from God. He was so proud of his grandsons (Jake and Ethan) who will miss him deeply. It was painful to say goodbye to my dad this morning but I know we will meet again. We will appreciate your prayers for peace and comfort.
