This one took a lot of time and sweat. An old Mako from up Philly way, needed a lot of love. We rebuilt and restored a Johnson 150 for it to replace the old worn out crossflow 140. Removed the crusty fuel tank and replaced with a new custom aluminum tank from Tricked TINS Jonboats; had to cut multiple access holes to dig out and replace the fill and vent lines. A good thing too; the tank and fill hose were both riddled with rot and holes.

Replaced all gauges and new gauge panels, new hydraulic steering, new controls, key switch and harness, new battery cables, and new bilge pump, wiring and fuse panel. Back on the water for more memories!

We don’t see a lot of performance boats at Tiger Outboards; our typical customers have center consoles, pontoons, runabouts and skiffs. So it’s been fun rigging and servicing rigs like these.

A shout-out to Bob's Machine Shop for excellent products as always. We recently rigged a customers boat with a Bob’s hydraulic jack, planing plate, blinker style trim and jack switches, and foot throttle. As always, everything was top quality and installed easily.

FUEL! Water and dirt in fuel is one of the most common issues we see here at Tiger Outboards. It’s a very common cause of engine failure. We always recommend using a quality fuel conditioner like Gas-Shok, and use it with every fill up so you don’t forget. Boats often sit a long time without running; it’s normal, life gets in the way sometimes and you don’t get to use your boat as often as you want. While REC-90 (non ethanol fuel) is better than ethanol, it’s not always readily available. There’s nothing wrong with using ethanol, except when it sits for long periods. It’s not like your truck that you drive nearly every day. Condition your fuel, and add a water separating fuel filter!
