Eight years ago, in the summer of 2017, these guys played their final Kempsville Cannons games together.
The journey began in 2012, when they were 9 and 10 years-old. Now, they’re working on their careers and/or graduating from college.
The “Bausas Cannons” played 200 games together. You can only do that if your coaches, players and families commit to each other.
This weekend, 11 baseball players, all four coaches and many family members gathered to celebrate friendships and great memories.
THANK YOU, Cannons Families. Thanks also to Kempsville PONY Baseball, for enabling us to do everything we did.

They played their final KPB Cannons games six years ago, at the ages of 14-15.
A few hours ago, we had a mini-reunion at Kempsville High’s senior night game.
L-R: Ben Bausas, Tommy Sutryk, Nathan Edwards and Cale Eidson.
While we were waiting for Nathan to arrive at KHS, I said, “You guys know what I’m going to make you do, right?”
“Yes Coach Greg. We have to get a photo.” 😂🙌🏻
Love those Boys (young Men).

The end of an era last night...
We DEFINITELY plan to get these players and families together again, but the Boys won't be wearing the same uniforms and competing against the same opponents.
What a ride!
To all Cannons Families: THANK YOU! We have nearly 10 years of shared baseball memories - from boyhood to manhood. Your commitment, kindness and friendship helped hold it all together, where so many other teams and organizations imploded.
Thanks to KPB for making the Cannons program possible, allowing us to do nearly all of the things we wanted to to - Cooperstown, Rehobeth Beach, Vero Beach and more.
Thanks to Rex Bausas, Jeff Mack and Mike Lambert. We couldn't have asked for better coaches.
Finally, thanks to the Cannons players. You laughed, you cried and you learned many life lessons, even if you don't realize it yet. You played hard - you won more than your share of games - and you made lasting friendships. Thanks for allowing your Parents to share in the great adventure.
Cannons baseball will continue at Bayside High (Coach Eidson) Chowan (Bausas), Barton (Marrs), NC Wesleyan (Thomas) and who knows where else?
Much love to all of our families and players!

Virginia Beach teen lost his motivation during the pandemic, but bounced back and became a leader
Salem High catcher Conner Thomas could have easily gotten unmotivated for his senior year after all the changes COVID-19 has caused. Instead, he went all out and got involved in many activities to finish his senior year off the right way.

It must be varsity baseball season, because we have a CANNONS COACHES SIGHTING!!
Thanks to Jeff and Rex for coming out today.
Our remaining (high school) Cannons are all seniors and we’re going to cheer for as many of them as we can.

How many Sunday doubleheaders did these two beautiful Baseball Moms attend from 2012 - 2017?
Most of those “little boys” are now in college, or soon to be on their way, but we KNOW that if a tournament was scheduled this spring, Shirlene and Laura would be there!

An on-field reunion tonight as the Marrs-Thomas Sun Devils earned a THRILLING 6-5 comeback win over Edwards’ Ambassadors in one of the most exciting high school baseball games you’ll see anywhere!
Congratulations to both squads.
