We had a beautiful evening walk at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with 20 members joining us, including several new faces. We were also happy to have Sadie the ๐ถ along as our honorary mascot for the evening. ๐ We covered 5 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes while enjoying great conversation, ocean views, peaceful waterways, and a stunning sunset. The weather was absolutely perfect for an evening walk, making it a wonderful night to be outdoors. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it another great East Coast Hikers event. I appreciate each of you and look forward to seeing everyone next timeโsame place, same time! ๐๐ผ๐

Last Sunday morning, we got a little over 4.6 miles in at the Hampton Waterwalk, and what a great morning it was. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and the trail offered a nice mix of waterfront views, shaded paths, wildlife, and even a stop by the Air Power Park aircraft displays. We spotted a family of geese along the way and enjoyed some peaceful views of the water that made the miles fly by. A big thank-you to Chassy for hosting and helping make the hike a success. One thing to note: the walkway near the Hampton Coliseum has a few uneven sections, so please use extra caution in that area. Overall, this was a fantastic trail, and weโll definitely be planning more hikes here in the future!

We had a great group out at First Landing State Park this past Saturday morning. Lots of good conversation, plenty of laughs, and perfect weather for spending a few hours on the trails. Itโs always nice to slow down, enjoy nature, and connect with fellow hikers. A special shoutout to Ezra, who got plenty of attention from the group throughout the hike. ๐พ Thanks to Samantha for hosting, and thanks to everyone who came out and made it another enjoyable morning with East Coast Hikers. ๐ฅพ๐ฒ๐

On Sunday, we accidentally discovered a hidden gem right here in Virginia Beach โ The Trails at Wesleyan Woods on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University. ๐ณโจ After organizing hikes and walks all over Hampton Roads, weโre always surprised when we find places we never knew existed! ๐ฎ We didnโt have time to explore every trail, but from what we saw, you could probably put together about a 3-mile route if you explored the entire trail system. The trails wind through beautiful forests with towering trees, peaceful lake views, a fishing pier, paved and natural paths, and plenty of shade. ๐ฒ๐ The scenery was beautiful, the woods were quiet, and it felt like stepping into a secluded nature retreat while still being in the middle of the city and on a university campus. ๐ฟ๐ This one definitely earned a spot on our list of local hidden treasures. Have any of you explored Wesleyan Woods before?

What a beautiful morning at Chicโs Beach! We had 10 members join host Ronald for a scenic 4-mile beach hike along the Chesapeake Bay. With sunshine, ocean breezes, shells, wildlife, and even an adorable four-legged hiking companion, it was the perfect day to be outside. After the hike, many of us enjoyed a delicious brunch at Buoy 44 Seafood Grill and great conversation with friends. Thank you to everyone who came out, and a special thank-you to Ronald for hosting todayโs adventure. See you on the next one! ๐ฅพ๐๐พโ๏ธ

What a chaotic start to the Wicked Wine Run 5K in Williamsburg today! Traffic was a mess due to the $20 parking fee collection, and the backup became so severe that police eventually stopped collecting fees to keep cars moving. Once we arrived, there was little to no cell service, making it nearly impossible to connect with anyone. As a result, we missed some members, the group photo, and even the official start. Despite the rough beginning, we still had fun. ๐
The hot course crossed uneven grassy terrain and wound through beautiful vineyards with stunning views. ๐ฟ๐ We stayed in the shade when possible, enjoyed the occasional breeze, and were glad to run into a few East Coast Hikers members along the way. The medal was one of my favorites, featuring a unique wooden front and cork backing that perfectly matched the winery theme. ๐
๐ท Sometimes the best adventures arenโt perfect, but theyโre still memorable. ๐
