Some see this and think, that kid has his leash on the wrong foot. Others acknowledge that he could be riding switch, or better yet, honoring legendary Floridian Matt Kechele, who still believes the leash on the front foot makes more sense. I looked up to Matt as a grom, drawing surfboards with his Matt Kechele Airlines logos in my middle school notebooks. I got to compete against him (and usually lose) on the ASP East tour in the late 80s and early 90s. Then, I was lucky enough to run surf camps with Matt all over the East Coast, the Gulf Coast and even Cuba. I learned so much from him along the way, mostly his perpetual sense of adventure.
