We had an incredible day at Resilience BJJ today!

We were honored to welcome Professor Mauricio “Tinguinha” Mariano back to our academy for a special seminar filled with outstanding instruction, technical details, and knowledge gained through a lifetime of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

We also celebrated the progress of our students with belt and stripe promotions. Every belt and stripe awarded today represents much more than a new rank, it reflects the consistency, effort, perseverance, and growth each student has demonstrated on and off the mats.

Congratulations to everyone who was promoted! Be proud of what you have accomplished, but remember that each promotion also marks the beginning of the next stage of your journey.

Thank you to Professor Tinguinha for continuing to share his knowledge and leadership with us. Thank you as well to our coaches, families, teammates, and everyone who attended to train, support one another, and make today so memorable.

Days like this remind us that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is about more than techniques and promotions. It is about lineage, relationships, shared experiences, and growing stronger together.

🇺🇸 LABOR DAY WEEKEND CLOSURE 🇺🇸

Just a reminder that Resilience BJJ Academy will be CLOSED this Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day Weekend.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend with family and friends!

Regular classes resume Tuesday, September 8, starting bright and early with 5:00 a.m. Adult No-Gi Fundamentals.

Professor Tinguinha is coming back to Resilience BJJ!

Join us Saturday, September 19 for a special Gi Seminar with Professor Tinguinha, followed immediately by our Biannual Belt & Stripe Promotions, team photo, food, and time together as an academy.

🥋 STAND STRONG STARTS MONDAY! 🥋

Our Stand Strong No-Gi Safety & Self-Defense Program begins this Monday at Resilience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy!

Date: August 10–12
Time: 5:30–6:30 PM
Location: Resilience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy
6624 W. Pershing Ave.

This 3-day program is designed to help participants build confidence, awareness, practical self-defense skills, and the ability to respond under pressure — all in a safe and structured environment.

FREE for current RBJJ members

Non-Members:
• $25 for immediate family (up to 3 participants)
• $10 for each additional immediate family member
• Payment is due at check-in

No preregistration is required.

Participants who attend all three days will take part in our Stand Strong graduation on Wednesday, August 12.

New participants who complete the program can also receive a $25 enrollment credit toward an RBJJ membership when enrolling within 30 days.

STAND STRONG: BACK-TO-SCHOOL CONFIDENCE & SELF-DEFENSE CAMP

As a parent, nothing is more important than knowing your child has the confidence to handle difficult situations.

This August, Resilience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is proud to offer Stand Strong, a three-night confidence and self-defense camp for current RBJJ members and local families.

Throughout the camp, children will learn age-appropriate skills including:

✅ Confidence and awareness
✅ Stranger safety
✅ Bully prevention strategies
✅ Verbal de-escalation and boundary setting
✅ Escaping common grabs and holds
✅ Basic self-defense techniques
✅ When to get away and find a trusted adult

Our goal is not to teach children to fight. It is to help them recognize danger, make good decisions, set boundaries, and respond safely.

📅 Camp Dates:
August 10–12
5:30 PM–6:30 PM

Current RBJJ Members: FREE

Non-Member Families:
$25 family registration includes up to three children living in the same household.
$10 for each additional child living in the same household.

No experience is necessary. All participants will receive instruction in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.

🎓 Children who attend all three sessions will receive a Stand Strong Certificate of Completion during the graduation ceremony on the final evening.

Huge thank you to Ryan Hall for coming out to Resilience BJJ today and sharing his knowledge with everyone.

Despite a difficult travel situation getting here, he still made the trip and gave our students and guests from other academies an incredible seminar. We really appreciate the time, effort, and level of instruction he brought to the mats.

Thank you as well to everyone who attended and helped make this such a great experience.

It was an honor to host one of the most respected and influential minds in modern jiu-jitsu here at RBJJ.
