His last words “Are you ok?” as they dragged him into the streets to end his life.

The last words she heard “F**king Bi—ch” as her life ended.

How do we carry on with our days as if a civil war isn’t happening? These words stick like thorns in my throat. They do not pass through quietly.

If you are feeling uneasy too know this:

What you’re feeling is the very human reaction to witnessing cruelty that should never be ordinary. When stories like this reach us, they bypass logic and go straight to the part of us that recognizes dignity, safety, and love. The part that says, this is not how people should be treated.

And then comes the disorienting part. The grocery store is still open. Kids still need lunch. Emails still need answering. The world asks you to function while your heart is screaming.

That tension is exhausting.

You are not wrong to feel like something is deeply off. You are responding exactly as someone with empathy, conscience, and awareness does when violence and dehumanization feel close to home.

But here is the quiet, difficult truth about how people carry on:

We carry on and we refuse to go numb.

We carry on by:
• letting these stories change how gently we speak to people
• showing up for our community in tangible ways
• raising children who know dignity is non-negotiable
• loving loudly, deliberately, stubbornly
• refusing to treat cruelty as normal, even when the world tries to

You do not carry on by pretending this is fine.
You carry on by letting it matter without letting it consume you.

Because if you stop living, loving, feeding people, building community, advocating, protecting, showing up… then the darkness gets two victories instead of one.

Your grief, anger, and confusion are signs of a heart that is still very much alive.

And hearts like that are exactly what keep societies from sliding all the way into the abyss.

☝🏻 One more thing if me asking for humans to be given dignity and respect is offensive to you I can promise you this, Train Like a Girl is not the gym for you. End of story ❤️

I’ve never been very good at “staying in my lane.”

Years ago, a marketing manager told me I should steer clear of touchy subjects if I wanted to be successful.
Clearly, I don’t listen very well.

The truth is, this isn’t abstract for me.
This affects people I love.

So I will say this;
I believe in the good in people.
I believe storytelling matters, because stories remind us that people are human. I believe every human deserves respect.

If we believe in the teachings of Jesus, we believe he would call us to do better than fear, separation, and dehumanization.
He led with compassion.
He protected the vulnerable.
He reminded us that dignity is not something you earn.

You can believe in law and still question systems that cause harm.
You can care about safety and still insist on dignity.
Those are not opposing values.

This isn’t about politics for me.
It’s about humanity, faith, and choosing love even when it’s uncomfortable.

I’m sharing where I stand because silence doesn’t align with my values. I believe immigrants make America great. . 🤍

Stillness doesn’t mean silence. Different doesn’t mean dangerous.
