"Nearly 300 to 400 search and rescue dogs worked at Ground Zero in the days and weeks following September 11th. They moved through rubble and ash alongside first responders, their presence offering comfort and purpose when the world felt shattered. These weren't just working dogs—they were partners, steadying forces, quiet heroes in an unimaginable tragedy.
All of them have since passed. But what they did in those darkest hours remains a testament to what dogs are capable of: unwavering courage, relentless devotion, and a willingness to work until there's nothing left to give. They didn't understand the scale of loss around them. They only knew they had a job to do and people who needed them.
Their legacy lives on in every search and rescue dog working today, in every handler who trusts their dog's instincts, and in every person who remembers what these beautiful souls accomplished when it mattered most. They deserve to be honored not just on this day, but always."

Today we honor the lives lost, the first responders and their families, and the remarkable dogs and handlers who answered the call.

We love enthusiasm! Sometimes training is simply helping our dogs learn what to do with all of it.

The goal isn’t to take away the excitement—it’s to help them make better choices when they’re excited.

And sometimes, a little “Oh dear…” helps them find the right answer. 😉🐾

And of course, we couldn't let graduation night go by without celebrating the people at the other end of those leashes! 💚🐾

Four very different dogs, four wonderful families, and six weeks of learning, practicing, problem-solving and growing together. We loved watching each of these pups build new skills and confidence along the way.

Sweet little Georgie may be tiny, but there is an awful lot packed into that little package! Smart, enthusiastic, confident and always ready to learn, she never missed a class—and brought a smile to our faces at every single one.

What an absolute joy she was to have in class. We can only imagine the places she'll go, the things she'll learn, and all the hearts she'll melt along the way.

Some people have a remarkable gift for seeing a dog~not just the behavior in front of them, but the dog underneath it. Kate is one of those people.

She can spot the smallest shift in body language, find the lesson hidden inside a problem, and somehow translate it all for the human standing at the other end of the leash. And quite often, somewhere along the way, the dog and their person begin to understand each other just a little better.

That's where the magic happens.🪄

Because training isn't really just about teaching a dog to sit, stay, come, or walk nicely on a leash. At its best, it's about helping people discover who their dog really is~and building the kind of relationship where both of them can become their best selves.
Kate has spent years and years doing exactly that for countless dogs and their people...with an extraordinary amount of knowledge, curiosity, humor, patience~and probably several metric tons of treats. 😁

Thank you, Kate, for sharing your knowledge so generously, for helping us see what our dogs are trying to tell us, and for teaching us how to become better partners to the dogs we love. 🙏🐕🫶
