Slimeond Valley Lake: NCB does DVL

It isn’t easy being green, but someone had to figure it out.

Diamond Valley showed up in full bloom… just not the kind you want. A heavy algae bloom had the lake looking more “pea soup” than pristine, and the name of the game quickly became finding not clean water—but clean(er) water. Those who tracked down clearer pockets had a serious edge while the rest of us fished through the green stuff.

Ron Huberts did it best, taking 1st with 13.96 lbs. Tim Sotola followed in 2nd with 9.40 lbs, and Ralph Huberts rounded out 3rd with 9.00 lbs.

Want to learn how we caught ’em and get in on the next one? Join us at a meeting—1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 7:00pm at American Legion Post 365 in Vista.

GO BIG(mouth) OR GO HOME:
NCBC Does Havasu

March 13–14 took us out of county and into the chaos of Lake Havasu—spring break crowds, gnarly wake, and nonstop boat traffic. Between dodging party boats and chasing both smallmouth and largemouth, it was a grind to put together the right bags.

Chris Mitchell cracked the code. He leaned largemouth, stacked a huge limit early one day, then casually motored back to weigh-in and took a nap in the tullies… while the rest of us grinded all day trying (and failing) to catch up. He finished 1st with 29.89 lbs. Bryan Larsen took 2nd with 24.16 lbs, and Tyler Huberts was right behind in 3rd with 24.11 lbs.

Out-of-town, outmatched, and out-napped—Havasu was one for the books.

Want in? Come learn how we caught ’em and fish the next one with us. Meetings are 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 7:00pm at American Legion Post 365 in Vista.

NCBC TOURNAMENT RECAP
Otay Heating Up: Spring Came Early

February 28 at Otay felt more like late April. The temps were high, the fish pushed shallow, and spring behavior was in full effect. The catch? Plenty of limits… but a whole lot of dinks. Finding the right bites made all the difference.

Jason Lamoure found them. He took 1st with a strong 14.23 lb bag. Chris Mitchell followed in 2nd with 10.46 lbs, and Herman De La Garza rounded out 3rd with 10.11 lbs.

After weigh-in, we kept it rolling with a club cookout featuring unreal BBQ smoked by Texas Tony. Texans have a reputation for a reason… and at this rate, we may have just named our unofficial club pitmaster.

Want to learn how we caught ’em and get in on the next one? Join us at a meeting — 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 7:00pm at American Legion Post 365, 1234 S. Santa Fe Ave, Vista, CA. We’re currently welcoming new boaters.
