Waco Six Shooters Granny Basketball player, Jerri Cunningham, is an original Six Shooter!!! She brings pure joy to our team❤️Jerri says, “I love granny basketball for the camaraderie and competition. It makes me feel like a kid again. I also love the fact that it gives me the opportunity to participate in charity work for our team’s charity, Friends for Life. The team has given me wonderful friendships. Love that I’m part of a team.” Our coach, Linda Gilliam says “Jerri is the sweetest, kindest person I’ve ever met and she has such a gentle spirit. She is full of joy and compassion for others. On the court, she’s shown determination and drive to become a better player and she has improved ten fold. Her positive influence is part of the fabric of the team. It would not be the same without her.”

Waco Six Shooters want to show our appreciation for our Assistant Coach, Karla Desper. This is what she says about basketball.

“This is what I am passionate about getting to play granny basketball
It is great exercise for my mind and body.
I love the grannies ! Our teammates encourage each other, we are a tribe that-has fun and fellowship. A bonus is also getting to meet so many other amazing grannies.” This is what Coach Linda Gilliam says about Karla. “Karla is a warm, kind and friendly person. She has all the characteristics to make a great leader. She is an awesome basketball player who understands the game of basketball. No wonder she is the assistant coach. Proud she is my friend.”

It’s that time of the year coming up!! Waco Six Shooters and Friends for Life Famous Friends are facing off July 11th to raise money for the best charity, Friends for Life. A fun event with many opportunities to support Friends. We need sponsors, so if you are interested, message me, I will see you get a sponsor form. We also need raffle prizes and silent auction items. Waco Six Shooters, Nancy Queen❤️🏀Nancy says, “ I’m excited about being able to play at my age. I grew up loving basketball. I’m thrilled that this program has allowed me to participate in this game that I love so much. Never say never.”Coach Linda Gilliam says, “Nancy is one of a kind. Her spirit, drive, and determination are not measureable. She is feisty and loving in one package. Nancy has been a Six Shooter since the beginning. I’m thankful for her years on the court and more important as a friend.”

Waco Six Shooters had a great day today!!!Thanks goes to the Rockettes and the RIPs for braving the weather and coming to play. Thanks to all the fans and Fox 44 for coming out to watch !!

Meet Carrell Myers #34! She taught herself how to play basketball and learned to play the bagpipes later in life. She plays the Granny Anthem at Granny Basketball tournaments. She says, “You are never too old to learn-embrace curiosity.” Coach Linda Gilliam says, “Carrell is a wonderful example of striving to learn and giving her best at all times. Her eagerness to improve and be a positive team member are two of her greatest assets. She is always willing to help the team. She is very creative. Carrell is a real joy.”

Waco Six Shooters want to thank everyone that coordinated and participated in the tournament in Copperas Cove this weekend. We are always excited to play!!! Way to go Six Shooters for making it all the way to the end of the tournament❤️🏀
