Meet Scrappy!! Janice Vonasek, of the Waco Six Shooters. She says,
“I have been the Campus Secretary at LISD for almost 20 years. I love traveling, playing pickleball and games, and spending time with my four amazing children, my family, and my triends.
My love of sports began in my backyard in Elm Mott, where I played anything I could with neighborhood friends and watched my older brothers play sports. I played Little League Softball and started basketball at Connally Jr. High, continuing competitively through high school. One of my proudest accomplishments was being named to the All-Tournament Team at the Robinson Tournament my senior year because it was very competitive.
My parents never missed my games, and l continued that tradition with my own children, who now get to watch me play!
Atter my first Granny Basketball game, my teammates' husband nicknamed me
"Scrappy." | love the competition, friendship, laughter, and memories that come with Granny Basketball, including times spent with my teammates and grannies from other teams-they are like family! I’m so thankful for the teammates who recruited me to play and Coach Linda Gilliam for giving me a chance.” Coach Linda Gilliam says,
“There are too many descriptions that can be used to describe Janice. Too hot to handle, energizer bunny, excitable, did you just see that flash and who is that talking. She is a hoot. Put her on a court and she is all business and working hard to become the best. She knows basketball and demonstrates her love of the game. She is friendly and helpful to others. She demonstrates what being a good team member is about and we are glad to have her.”

It’s time to hear about our youngest Waco Six Shooter, Ashlee Krienke!! Ashlee has been on the Waco Six Shooters for three seasons . When she isn't rocking it on the court, she serves our veterans as a dedicated nurse and published author. She is married to Brian and is blessed with two amazing sons.
In high school, Ashlee was selected to play goalie on the all-boys soccer team . She also competed in volleyball, basketball , softball and track . She was named Athlete of the Year , Basketball MVP, and was free throw and shot put champion.
She is a firm believer in her faith - "the moment you give up , you've already lost."
Her favorite scriptures are Joshua 1:9 and Isaiah 40:31.
I’m proud to continue my passion of playing basketball while giving back to our community. Granny Basketball has opened up a whole new world of friendships. I’m very grateful for my teammates, and my coach ,they have been an absolute joy ! Coach, Linda Gilliam, says “ Ashlee is the kind of player every coach hopes to have on their team. She is eager to learn, works tirelessly in practice, and is always striving to improve. Her love for the game of basketball extends beyond the court—she treasures being part of a team and values the family atmosphere that basketball creates. Because of that passion, Ashlee gives her all, not only to the game but also to her teammates. She is kind, caring, generous, and genuinely humble. She leads by example through her attitude, work ethic, and willingness to put the team’s success ahead of her own. Ashlee embodies the true meaning of being a team player and represents the very best qualities of an athlete and teammate.”
