This past Saturday a few of our beginners jumped into a tournament. secured his first gold and had a massive set of two brackets where he made a great come back for double bronze finishing his last two opponents. Great showing as always for our white belts and thanks to and for coaching!

It’s that time of year, we’re off to fight at the ISKA world championships. This year we travel to Madrid Spain to take on over 50 other countries. Proud to have multiple students on this trip, and a bunch of friends as well. This year we have teenagers, adults and even masters division athletes making the trip to represent the USA. Many faces are about to be teep’d in the face, USA brings back the gold 🏅

A late post but well earned, took gold in his first blue belt division ever, after having to move up two weight classes due to no competitors in his actual weight class. He managed to finish everyone with his signature move! had a very hard introduction to competing with absolutely packed divisions and serious competitors. He snagged a silver and bronze after having multiple matches in each division.

I’m about 300 fights into my coaching career. It started slow but nowadays there are so many opportunities and I I have so many fighters that I’m blessed (and cursed) to be on a show just about every weekend. it was so great to be able to fight at home in CT for the second time this year. Until recently we didn’t have a single legit kickboxing/thai show in the state, but that all changed with the recent changes to regulations in the capital. Many people have been involved in getting the gears moving up there and I’ve played a part behind the scenes moving certain people along and helping shows get running.

Mike worked extra hard to get this event to the level it was at, I’m proud of him and his freakish organization skills lol. I hope this is the first of many so I feel less obligated to drive 5-8 hours on a Saturday out of state to find enough matches for my guys.

Congratulations to on his debut win. If you saw this guy spar for the first time he visited my gym you’d be shocked at the difference in his skill now vs then. Turning a wrestler into a striker comes with its own unique challenges, especially in the more traditional Thai rule set where bad habits such as stance and hand placement crop up for wrestlers. But, he came through with flying colors absolutely showcasing (see what I did there?) his hands, kicks and clinch while making the cardio look easy despite hitting the gas harder each round. Excited to see how far he goes now that the pieces are in place!
jungle had a harder run of things. Having only been with me for 14 months this is third official sanctioned fight and fourth over all in that time period. This time he stepped in against a great guy Richie Vera who actually made his debut at one of my birthday smokers way back in 2018. I knew the bar was high and he’d likely not come out the winner but we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what are guys can handle and he was actually performing significantly better than his previous fights. Theres always going to be a lot to work on but he’s healthy and back in the gym ready to go. Zero concussion symptoms thank god 🙏

Up and on to nationals next!

This past Saturday we took a five round title fight at K4. Kevin fought up a weight class at 135 for the first time in years and did it sick. Yeah, I probably should’ve pulled him from the fight BUT he undersold just how sick he was because kevin never backs out. Now that I’m home and sick with whatever he had, I simply cannot comprehend how he fought five rounds like this.

In 9 years with me, I’ve always asked him how he feels after the first round, and this is the first and only time he’s ever said “bad”. As soon as I realized he couldn’t breathe the only thing we could do was tough it out, try a few strategic adjustments to survive and make it competitive enough to keep our opponent guessing.

Also, he finally landed one of those stupid rolling thunders so maybe we can retire that now 🤣

I suppose as an amateur you really should fight sick at least once to realize why you shouldn’t do it haha, but it’s good to know that both he and Victor couldn’t be stopped even when unable to breathe in their fights this year. Now both of us have to recuperate, I’ll see ya’ll soon but you know, stay away from me for your own sake 😷

Bria is the 3x WKA national champion and ISKA Jr world champ, taking on Kayara who is the TBA National champion. Two national tournament champions meet in the Flex Cage to battle over not only the Flex title but also the prestigious ISKA national title! This is one fight you won’t want to miss 😵‍💫💥🥊

Joey makes his kickboxing debut this Saturday at Art of Combat in New York. Tickets are still available at the door, or grab the stream to watch from home as he takes on a local stand out at 145lbs. I might even make it home in time for bed!
