Some big promotions this past Saturday at our yearly seminar with Master Ricardo Cavalcanti. Huge congratulations to Andrew on his promotion to Black Belt! A long and hard earned road to this point 👏
Additionally we’d like to congratulate our four new purple belts, Aiden, Brad, Matt and John Michael. All of whom have competed extensively and have been due for an upgrade for a while!
Lastly, our new blue belt Nick who never sent me his photo! 😆
Congratulations to everyone, RCA BJJ 👊

We had a great success this weekend with a little team of mostly beginners competing. Special shout out to Barbara for stepping up against blue belts in the expert division in only her second competition. 4 gold and 1 silver for the day. Proud of everybody 👏

Recap of cage wars, Bria advances her MMA record to 2-0, and her overall combat sports record to 14-1. This girl is on 🔥 and making things look easy but make no mistake the hard work put in is nothing short of professional level. Title fight announcement for MuayThai should be coming soon 🤫

stepped into the cage at the most recent FCP show for a middleweight MMA match. One of the things I like to stress to fighters is that they should take on a variety of challenges at amateur level as the experience is invaluable to deepen their overall skill set. People who fight only cans and opponents they know they can win against will always come up short at the pro level. One of the best challenges for any young fighter is to take on a crafty veteran or journeyman. These opponents have deep bags of tricks to pull from and can take even the most prepared fighter by surprise.
In this case our opponent had 16 MMA fights of experience to our 2. That’s the kind of fight that helps you level up both before, during and after! We had exciting moments on the feet, wrestling, and on the ground. Finishing both the first and second rounds with arm bars. Unfortunately amateur rounds are very short when the opponent applies defenses to your submissions, but we still managed to walk away with the win. Congratulations to Aiden on a well fought victory 👏

If you told me the kicking machine would decide to become a boxer for her first fight I would have called you crazy. She got a little too excited and forgot she could check kicks but who cares when you’re wearing shin guards right? 🤪 congratulations to Casey on her very first win, and for having the guts to step into the cage in front of a huge audience for her first time out 👏

I never thought a lunch time muaythai class would be so popular but it’s been packed out for over a year and just keeps growing! Come down and join us sometime, the vibes are always good 😵💫💥🥊

As fun as action photos are, sometimes we need to sit back and admire the pre and post fight team photos just as much. In this case I have to give thanks to my incredible team of kids who support each other at every opportunity and really came together for this show. With five people fighting I relied on them to warm each other up as I furiously wrapped hands. They each took turns cornering at least one fight and we stayed on schedule throughout the night.
The personality of the coach determines the vibe of the gym, but it’s those members that are the heart and soul of who the gym becomes. Here we have cultivated a team that will overwhelmingly be capable of handling any part of the fight game inside and outside the ring, and we do this with regular people, not just athletes. That all begins with an environment of support from the bottom up!

Say what you want about , whether it his bad hairstyle, his strange sense of humor, being incredibly small even for flyweight… and so on. BUT, the kid really listens. He set traps for five rounds that paid off, he hit the combos I wanted, the set ups I asked for, he even hit things properly when asked too during the round. So at least we know he has one redeeming quality!
All jokes aside our fake antagonism over the years has nothing to do with our actual system in the ring. We find success for a reason; do what’s asked, because you trust the coach knows what he’s saying, and you’ll find the win more often than not.
Congrats on your first title weirdo, glad I could do all the hard work for you 💁🏻♂️😂
