🐴 LET’S ADDRESS SOMETHING – PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ! 🐴
I want to address something that has become an ongoing issue when it comes to scheduling horses leaving and arriving at Silent Gift Farm.
First and foremost, I own and operate Silent Gift Farm. I personally handle the equine hauling, quarantine care, rehabilitation, daily care, and everything else that comes with running this farm.
I understand the hauling industry because I AM A HAULER MYSELF! I know firsthand that delays happen. Traffic, weather, mechanical issues, difficult horses, and unexpected situations can throw an entire schedule off. I completely understand that, and I have always tried to be accommodating.
However, there is a difference between an unexpected delay and a complete lack of communication.
My entire week is planned around horses arriving, horses leaving, hauling appointments, rehabilitation schedules, and the daily responsibilities of running this farm.
When I'm told a horse is being picked up on a certain day, I plan accordingly. Sometimes that means rearranging my own hauling schedule or making arrangements for someone else to be at the barn.
What people don't seem to realize is that I do NOT have someone sitting at the barn full-time waiting for haulers to show up.
When a shipper tells an owner they're coming on a certain day and then doesn't show up, it affects more than just that one horse.
It affects my schedule, my business, and potentially other horses waiting to go home.
Sometimes I have to PAY someone to be at the barn because I'm out hauling or handling other responsibilities. When that hauler doesn't show up, I'm now paying someone for time that was completely wasted.
That is money coming directly out of my pocket.
I don't charge owners for my time spent waiting around, and I don't charge them for the time I'm paying someone else to be available for their shipper.
But that doesn't mean my time is free or that it isn't valuable.
I have horses waiting to come in, horses waiting to go home, and horses here requiring daily care and rehabilitation. I cannot put my entire operation on hold because someone cannot communicate their pickup schedule.
I'm not asking for an exact arrival time down to the minute.
I'm simply asking for some common courtesy and communication.
🐴 If your shipper gives you a pickup day, please communicate that with me.
🐴 If that day changes, please let me know as soon as possible.
🐴 If possible, please provide an estimated arrival window the day before.
🐴 If your shipper is running behind or isn't coming, please don't leave me waiting all day wondering what's going on.
🐴 Please understand that pickup arrangements need to be coordinated with MY schedule as well.
Just because a horse is ready to go home doesn't mean someone is available at the farm 24/7 to load that horse.
I work extremely hard to make sure every horse receives the care it deserves. I'm up early, home late, hauling horses across state lines, caring for rehabilitation cases, and making sure everything at this farm runs smoothly.
I love what I do, but at the end of the day, Silent Gift Farm is a business, and I have to operate it like one.
I respect other haulers and understand the challenges of this industry. All I'm asking is that the same respect and consideration be given to my time and my operation.
Communication costs absolutely nothing. Having someone wait around all day costs me money.
Please plan accordingly and keep me informed.
Thank you to the owners and haulers who already communicate, show up when they say they will, and respect everyone's time. It truly makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Respect goes both ways, and a little communication goes a long way.
