🔥 COTTON COUNTY BURN BAN CONTINUED 🔥

The Cotton County Board of County Commissioners has continued the countywide burn ban due to ongoing dry conditions and extreme fire danger.

The new resolution was approved September 8, 2026, and will remain in effect for up to 14 days, unless lifted earlier or extended by the Board.

🚫 During the burn ban:

* Outdoor burning, including trash, brush, grass and other materials, is prohibited.
* Campfires and bonfires are prohibited.
* Fireworks are prohibited, including private and public displays.
* Welding, cutting and grinding are permitted only when the safety requirements outlined in the resolution are met.
* Outdoor cooking with LPG, natural gas or charcoal is permitted when conducted in an appropriate receptacle over a non-flammable surface and at least 5 feet from flammable vegetation.
* Certain prescribed/agricultural burns may qualify for exemptions when conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.

⚠️ Please continue to use extreme caution. Cotton County has experienced numerous fires during the recent stretch of hot, dry weather, and conditions remain favorable for rapid fire spread.

Please help us protect our firefighters, property owners and communities by avoiding anything that could create a spark or start a fire.

The burn ban does not apply to federal land.
