May we always be working to be a safe place for kids to be kids, humans to be humans, and love to be love.

We hope you always find the places that make you feel at home, make you feel safe, and make you feel like you belong, no matter what version of yourself you are and decide to be. May you always have the choice to be who you want to be, and the safety to be exactly who you are.

And no matter who you are, you are welcome here.❤️

✨✨2026 Senior Spotlight✨✨

A bit late, but we just couldn’t let this one go early. ❤️

Madeline Braverman started in the performing arts at age 4, dancing at Elite Dance Academy, where she spent 10 years studying tap, ballet, and jazz, with 2 years on the competitive tap team. When she moved to Ascend Dance Center in 2021, she joined the senior company and added modern and hip-hop to her repertoire. She has also had featured dancing rolls in her middle and high school’s performances of SpongeBob the Musical, Mary Poppins, and most recently, Once Upon a One More Time.

Her specialty is tap, which led her to audition and score an apprenticeship with the Philadelphia-based, professional all-women tap ensemble, The Lady Hoofers, where she has performed in their holiday special, The Tapcracker, as well as their Spring Concert Series. With the Lady Hoofers, Madeline has taken masterclasses with the likes of world-renowned tappers Star Dixon, Dormeisha, Connor Kelly, Dre Torres, and Chloe and Maud Arnold. She has also choreographed several tap dances to perform with her school music ensembles.

Her senior solo tap dance will be performed with choreography she has written for music she has custom transcribed for her instruments and recorded at a professional recording studio. Madeline has worked on this project for the whole year as her Senior Independent Study PEN project.

Madeline has received a full architecture scholarship to Syracuse University, where she also plans to continue her two great loves of playing music and dancing.

When not dancing, she has spent the last four years as part of CB South’s marching band and music department playing clarinet, and soprano and alto saxophones. For two years, she was part of the musical pit orchestra tripling on soprano saxophone, Eb clarinet, and Bb clarinet in The Music Man, and doubling on Eb clarinet and Bb clarinet in Sweeney Todd, which won the Philadelphia Independence Award for Best Pit Orchestra.

Congratulations, Mads! We love you and miss you already!

Happy International Women’s Day to the teachers that give our studio its heartbeat. The women who are doing the most everyday for so many kids, teens, dancers, and each other.

Thanks for being the best examples and influences for future generations of women to come. ❤️

We are closed again today, Ascenders! Unfortunately, our Mondays just keep getting pushed with these snow storms. We are looking at rescheduling our Monday night classes on Monday, March 30th during what would be our spring break.

Stay safe and warm tonight, keep your bodies and backs safe digging out of the snow, and send us all the videos of your dancer’s snow activities! :)

❤️ Miss Kelly

We are OPEN today, Tuesday, January 27th!

Please use your own judgement on whether or not you can make it in. Most of the roads are good with a few patches still. Drive with caution, dress warm, and remember that there is still snow and ice EVERYWHERE. Despite how many snow blowers and people shoveling we may have, there is a solid chance you will still need to walk over a small mound of snow to get to our cleared walkways and doors. ❤️❄️

A gentle reminder to make sure all shoes are taken off before setting foot onto the dance floor. You can leave shoes in the lobby (best on the black slate and mat in front of the door) or against the walls in the courtyard entryway. We appreciate your help in keeping our floors clean and not stripped of their dance magic!

❤️ Be safe and warm today, and we will see everyone tonight!

We are closing for tonight. We hope this gives everyone time to try to dig out. We’ll make an assessment tomorrow by the afternoon for our Tuesday classes.

We really don’t want to shut down for multiple days. However:
1. Salt only works down to about 20 degrees.
2. Brine/brine-salt mix can function for a few degrees lower than that.
3. Nothing starts working once temperatures dip to around 10-15 degrees.
4. Our road crews have been out around the clock for going on 36 hours now.

So for today, work on digging out and staying warm and safe! Break into that snow/ice and put salt down early this afternoon as temperatures hopefully reach into the low 20’s. Work smarter, not harder! And if you see the road crews and plows working in your neighborhood, send the kids out to cheer for them, and maybe deliver them a coffee or snack. They’ve been awake a long time. ❤️

Also, feel free to send me pictures and videos of what the kids are doing to entertain themselves, or of them practicing their dances. I’d love to put some cheer up on our socials while we’re all iced in! ☺️

Stay safe, and enjoy this time with family!

We are CLOSED today. We will look to see if we need to reschedule our Flyers/Trenton Thunder rehearsal for another day down the road. For now, have a wonderful snow day and a great weekend!

Sending a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. We’re so grateful for all of our Ascend family!

I’m most grateful for the small moments we get to share with your children. For the times where they write about their dance teacher being a “safe person” at school. For the times where best friends meet for the first and the 3,000th time and continue being besties long after dance is over. For the times where we’re able to give your dancers a safe and happy place to belong, when they don’t feel the same elsewhere. For the times when we’re told your child has tried so many other studios, but never felt at home until they came here.

Grateful everyday that you have included us in your lives, and for being able to watch your children and your families grow year after year. So thankful for all of you. ❤️
