The biggest question this time of year is how to feed athletic kids for performance. These are some of the quick food items I buy for my very active 14 y/o son. While they are processed, the ingredients are BETTER than the majority of packaged foods.
It is always better to eat WHOLE food when possible. Its possible more often than we want to accept. It requires planning and making it a priority but it is definitely easier than most realize. Hitting ANY drive thru frequently will bust a budget and damage your health.
What you see here are snacks or add ons to meals as part of a high protein, performance based diet.
FAQ:
Q: Expensive compared to typical snacks?
A: Yes, but you can find sales. We spend more on food at our house than most families but we do not eat out often. I measure these out into servings. Not eat a whole bag. Also, food is an investment in future health for us not a cost.
Q: Some of these have gluten and dairy ingredients?
A: Yes, they do but they are minimally processed. Still not for everyone but definitely better than Quest or most other trendy protein bars/supplements that are full of soy.
Q: My child cannot gain weight or muscle mass. Why?
A: Real Talk. First, they have to be committed to the displine of habits. Not "want to" or "try to". This is an over simplification but if they sleep and eat, it will absolutely happen.
I have 100% success rate with clients that follow these instructions. I can give you countless examples of "skinny" or "husky" kids Ive coached that gained so much muscle mass naturally ppl falsely claimed they were on PEDs. π€£π€£π€£
Discipline can make ANY person better. It starts with food. ππ»ππ»ππ»

I'm asked my opinion everyday on different diets or supplement systems of weight loss.
My response is always the same:
Beware of product based nutrition/diet programs. They can be a starting point but never a permanent solution.
Don't let a promise of a quick fix be a distraction from learning to make consistent whole food choices paired with common sense, level appropriate training.
Fad diets damage metabolic function. If you are a healthy weight, consider body composition to decrease measurements. Getting too thin esp over 35, can lead to long term bone density issues and undesirable skin appearance. Not to mention, muscle promotes youthful hormone production while lack of lean tissue can lead to appearing prematurely aged.
Be patient with the process of becoming healthy.
It took a lifetime to develop some of the negative habits that have contributed to a decline in wellness.

Everyone that knows him loves Luke.
Thank you so much for all the encouragement over the past few months and messages the past week into the weekend! Our gym family is the bestβ€οΈ
Our guy did his first NPC Men's Physique show and absolutely killed it. Not only did he place well in True Novice B but did exceptionally in a deep Open Class F of total monsters.
If you are not familiar with bodybuilding, you may not realize how incredible it is for an 18 year old to look this competitive in a group of older seasoned competitors.
Luke feels strongly abt being a natural competitor. Thanks to amazing genetics and incredible discipline, He absolutely deserved his spot on the stage.
Thanks to Phil Williams, IFBB PRO for his top notch coaching on posing. Folks don't even know abt the exhausting art of looking "relaxed" and effortless on stage. BUT PHIL makes it look so good but still entertaining!
Thanks to Ron Parmeter, USBF/NGA/IFPA PRO for double checking our final peak week and show numbers. Natural pro competitors just know things.
Big thanks to Max Rigby for the early training sessions and always being there for anything his little brother needed. Doing some weird workouts but never complaining. It is such a joy to coach these guys and to watch how they truly enjoy each other is amazing.
Last but definitely not least, I want to thank Missy Rigby for being the person every competitor needs to support them with food and arrangements. Actually, she is the mother we all need! She has a great system for creating responsible, hard working kids and all 5 of them are class acts. Do a Master class! This clown world needs you π€‘β€οΈπ€£
But Missy I should warn you...the stage will soon be calling Luke back πππ

Congrats to Adrian McGhee for winning 3 gold medals for powerlifting in the 2022 Special Olympics World Games held in Orlando at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The World Games is an elite, invitation only competition thats comparable to the Summer Olympic Games. I have been supporting Adrian since October to rebuild his strength and prepare for this truly amazing opportunity.
Adrian may be differently-abled but he understands that challenges require more effort and no excuses. Since COVID, He has overcome many obstacles. He changed jobs to one that required longer hours which meant training later and after a hard, physical day at work. He took on more responsibilities to help his family and friends at the same time. But no matter how tired, I can count on Adrian to have a smile on his face at the gym. Anything I ask him to do is answered with ππΏ .
Though about 10 years younger than myself, He calls me his gym mom like many of my other clients that range in age from 7-92 yrs. My role as a coach is like a mother. Hard at times but nurturing when its needed. We all need encouragement, accountability, understanding, and structure when we are tackling Life. Someone who will fight for us when we are spent. I have enjoyed the struggle at his side.
It sure has been honor to watch Adrian work to become a champion and see how it has moved the rest of his life forward as well.

He only weighs 142 #!! Mindset is everything. No load is too heavy to overcome.
