We wanted to give a little shoutout from the Dean Johnson Memorial Wrestling Tournament yesterday at Kinzua Wrestling Club. 🤼‍♂️✨

This is Siobhan Dowdall. She was our only competitor in the women’s open and at 42 years of age the mother of 4 agreed to wrestle in the men’s open against 3 guys in their 20s who were in really good shape. No fear. No concern about losing. It was just about giving best effort and testing herself.👏🏻👏🏻

Today, the Kinzua Wrestling Club was proud to host the Dean Johnson Memorial Tournament at the Kinzua Youth Development Center with over 100 competitors!

At Kinzua Wrestling Club, we believe wrestling is about more than medals and championships. It’s about building character through our four core values: Self-Direction, Respect, Helping Others, and Best Efforts. These values are the foundation of everything we do, both on and off the mat.

The best way to get better is simple—mat time. Every match is an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow. There are no shortcuts in this sport. Success comes from showing up, putting in the work, and embracing every challenge.

We couldn’t be more proud of our wrestlers today. They competed with heart, grit, determination, and toughness from the first whistle to the last. Every athlete represented our club with pride, and regardless of the outcome, they gave their best effort and continued to grow.

Thank you to all the wrestlers, families, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the Dean Johnson Memorial Tournament a success. We appreciate everyone who continues to support wrestling and the values this sport teaches.

Keep showing up. Keep putting in the work. Keep getting better. That’s what Wrestling is all about. 🤼💙

🚨 New Practice times for July🚨
Practice will be Monday’s 6-7:30 for all of July. Please spread the word! Hope to see everyone there!

Kinzua Youth Development Center recently hosted a successful four-day wrestling camp for youth ages 4–12. The camp provided a fun, supportive, and educational environment where young athletes could learn the fundamentals of wrestling while building confidence, discipline, and teamwork skills.

This was a wonderful opportunity for children who may be unsure about joining the sport to gain valuable exposure to wrestling and experience firsthand what makes it such a rewarding activity. We are grateful to all the coaches, volunteers, parents, and participants who helped make this camp a success.

We look forward to continuing to provide opportunities that encourage youth development, healthy competition, and personal growth within our community.

Kinzua Youth Development Center, home of KWC, hosted an incredible outdoor team camp focused on hard work, mental toughness, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors.

We were proud to have athletes from Warren Wrestling, Eisenhower Knights Wrestling,Central dauphin East, and Creek Style Wrestling Club join us for this experience. From carrying logs through the woods to building camaraderie around the campfire, these young men challenged themselves and each other every step of the way.

As an added bonus, our athletes had the opportunity to give back by helping Camp Olmsted install docks. It was a great chance to put teamwork and service into action while making a positive impact on a place that means so much to many campers and families.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this camp a success. We’re excited about the future because we know one thing:
