If you’re a new shooter and you’re getting told you have bad trigger control… try focusing on maintaining more consistent GRIP pressure.
•
Some context is missing from this clip that we gave throughout the rest of the class but the underlying point is true - if you’re missing by 7” from 7 yards that’s not your little trigger finger doing it that’s a change in grip pressure (usually but not always coming from the firing hand)
•
Instead of slowing down to a glacial pace on your trigger press the next time you hit the range try hyper focusing on keeping the pressure and connection of your grip the same on the gun before during and after that trigger press and see what happens 🤙

Annual Reminder - ❌ Don’t do this at home.
•
Extractors fail, chambers get dirty, hands slip - your clearance procedure should be built on visual / physical inspection, NOT pressing the trigger.
•
Its fine for competition where there’s virtually no risk if a gun goes off during clearance - NOT the case in your house or your car. Do yourself a favor and cut this habit out as soon as possible everywhere but the competition field.
•
Im not a “competition gets you killed” kinda guy I love it and think more shooters should do it - but this is a part of it that needs to stay on the flat range. Ask one of our best new students who came half a second and 5 lbs away from ruining his new basement floor when a round got stuck in his G***k
•
Human brains are lazy and shortcut seeking, if we know the goal is to get to the trigger press the rest of the process WILL begin to slip I’ve seen it happen to pros it can happen to you, don’t give it the chance 🤙

Occluded Shooting is like fixing the GPS in your car. It won’t teach you how to drive stick but it’ll help fix your guidance system if there’s a problem.
•
We aren’t advocates of this “occluded shooting all the time” stuff but it’s a GREAT $.25 test to see if you’re ACTUALLY focused on a small spot on the target or not.
•
If you’re stuck focusing on your sights it’s a nice leg up to help you start breaking that habit.
•
Dry fire reps and solid mechanics will always be the foundation but shooting is a hand eye coordination endeavor so if our eyes aren’t doing the right thing it’s a simple test to help identify the problem.
