Mr. Knightly’s biggest evasion is to lean inward through the inside shoulder then cut in from the intended track . I’m backtracking to work through some (exaggerated) cues in-hand to try to help the under saddle challenge. I’m using the open inside rein to ask him to follow the bit, then yield and move away from a lifted rein .
And yes it’s small circles, but we’re moving slow and only spent a few minutes on the exercise. This will also be helpful if I use him for a Leadline pony as he’s learning to trot along with me and watch for body cues as well.
